The odd fact thread
« on: February 21, 2007, 12:50:54 pm »
This is pretty much useless, as why' it's going into the Offtopic section, but here, we post little tidbits of information that nobody knows, or might not WANT to know...

I'll go.

Apples help keep you awake better than Caffienne.
100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens every year.
Jesus DID exist. No proof whether he was god's kid or a hobo, as far as I know.
Sharks have too keep swimming or else they'll sink.

That's all the fun facts I can think of right now.

You can spend up to 250 calories in 1 hour by banging your head to the wall.

Wearing a shirt only draws attention to my complete lack of pants!!!

Haha, when I was in the army, there use to be all kinds of odd facts posted on the toilet's doors so we wont get bored. :\
Yeah, for real, someone's job in the army was to post that stuff.

Anyway, here are a few facts:

- Killer Whales kill sharks by charging into the shark's stomach at great speed , causing
      the shark to explode.
- A  dentist invented the electric chair.
- Women blink almost twice as much as men do.
- Cockroaches will live nine days without their head before they starve to death.
- If you cut a starfish's arm, it would grow another amr. And that severed arm, would grow a new starfish.  :o

And here is one I found on the Internet:
- TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.

Elephants can touch their elbows with their nose.
Which is obviously wrong.  ;)

It's getting less or is it fluctuating?

Right, so basically the amount of islands stays the same.

By the way, someone said 'Jesus DID exist.' Well, what exactly do you mean with that? I knew a Jesus once, but he had a Mexican last name, so ...

I put this to a guy I used to live with, a few years ago; he promptly touched his nose with his elbow. I can get within about an inch.

Photo please, if you're able to, because even double jointed can not touch their elbows with their nose, it's quite hard to believe what you say without evidence.

'Fraid not, matey; I've not seen the fella in about three years. The move involved some hideous rotation at the shoulder; there may have been an amount of nasty socket-popping involved. You ain't obliged to believe anything you read on the internet!

I understand  ;D , I probably tend to take these comments far too serious I guess, but trust me, some muscles would break and certain pieces of bone around your shoulder simply prohibit your arm from even twisting this far ... it is really impossible, even for the double jointed.  :-*   Ow and then I haven't even started about the length of the upper arm which also prevents you from ever coming near your nose, it's too long. So unless your matey can bend his bones while twisting his muscles beyond breaking ...  :P

(any 'socket-popping' would make the distance even bigger btw ..  ::) )
