Have you beaten the game yet? :)

(it doesn't explain it per se, but it hints)

Yeah, I have my theory about what the body is, but I also don't want to ruin anything. :P

In all honesty, the game could have used a bit more narrative on the story parts, but it sorta feels like you left it open for the person to interpret..  :P

Yeah, that was intentional. :)

I have my own interpretation of how everything fits together, I'm sure other people have their own thing.

That's one thing I liked about the game. :)

It actually would've been nice is every piece of the puzzle came together near the end of the game. But yeah, most things are guess-able even though you never know for sure if you are right.
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

Well, there's no real explanation. It might be the Creator wicked spirit that created this whole place (since apparently he loves to create beings).
I also like to think this might be the body of the entity that saved the Creator while he was drowning, and now the Creator stay within it to use it's gigantic powers...
I should think about something stupid to put in there...

It's generic creepy unexplained organic environment #294.

Probably can be explained by referencing the Creator (or whatever it was that gave the Creator his power?), I don't know.

Just looking at it from an art perspective, The Body seems to include influences from both surrealist H.R. Giger and the Gradius video games.

I would almost agree with you on the Giger note but find he works more au grisaille and the very chromatic intestinal caverns of Mithalis seem more on the organic level then the bio-mechanical contructs that are telltale of Giger.  Honestly, my initial thoughts went to Serpieri's Morbus Gravis from Heavy Metal comics. not providing any links because it's freakily nsfw ( term discussed elsewhere on the forum  ;) )  but if you are familiar with it, you know of it's sheer goodness.

NSFW how?  Sexually?  Violently?  You can't just mention something and not provide any info for the curious...I'M CURIOUS.

This...game...ROCKS!

I dunno', the body does kind of have a bio-mechanical look to it in my opinion.  For example, the big tubes that run along the walls and block your progress in places look almost more like organic conduits than veins.  Or the presence of faces in the wall before you reach The Creator speak to something being more grown-to-purpose and sculpted rather than simple outgrowths.
