That's seriously brilliant, even though it's only 15s XD

Just throwing out an idea here, obviously the music from Aquaria doesn't have much singing in it. You have a brilliant style, and you really don't need to back that by relating this in any way to Aquaria. You should consider making some completely original tracks in the awesome style you've demonstrated so far, try to get Jenna as a singer, and I'd hell buy it, be great to add to my mp3 rotation as something beautiful, and somewhat different, I love the haunting yet uplifting vibe you have going.

Seriously, ever considered a career in the music industry? :P

I dunno how long it's been, I just know the month keep going by, and we keep waiting for the patch which always seems to be nearly complete... Whats the current outlook for it? I love this game, and really wanna play it again with the new patch, I also want to get my hands on the OST! So, any info?

Has beta testing started yet with the testers who signed up? I'm sure it must be in some workable state by now! lets hear the details :P

Ahh ok, that's fine, I just didn't want to be paying the full price again for what I already bought, if you plan to put other stuff in the box, and give us a bit of a discount then I can settle for that :)

Though it still stands that I think you should get Jenna Sharp back for more of the songs  ;)

And so they shouldn't have to. The were thinking about a boxed edition anyway. Thats why I mentioned they should send it to customers who already bought Aquaria and order the OST. That way any shipping costs are handled by the customer, and as the customer has to pay for the OST anyway, they can even throw in a few extra dollars to cover build costs. It would just mean customers who already payed for it can recieve the box and disc without having to re-purchase aquaria :)

Um, I just thought, with the OST and all comming out, and with plans for a boxed release of the actual game on the cards, would it be possible to make it so that people who buy the OST and have already bought aquaria could get the boxed version of Aquaria thrown in? Without the serial of course, as we already have one.

I just think it would be a great insentive for us to buy the OST in the first place (not that we need one :P) but also give us people who already bought the game the ability to obtain the potential boxed copy at the same time, without having to pay for it again, or deal with extra shipping costs. You could even charge a little more for the effort going into designing the new box art and the manufacturing concerns :)

Also while I'm at it, the music which includes singing, I believe it was from the voice actor who played Naija? It would be brilliant if you could get a bonus piece or two with her talents again, her voice is stunning, and the talent which went into the music was amazing. I'd just love to have some more songs with that level of singing in them, maybe come up with some lyrics for already made songs? Just a thought :)

Support / Plimus seem to have lost my order information...
« on: August 18, 2008, 09:14:51 am »
Dunno whats going on, I've used plimus to recover my aquaria key once before and it worked prefectly.

Anyway, my old PC I had the key saved on died, so I figured I'd get the key back through plimus again. I went to this address http://www.plimus.com/find_shopper_order.jsp to get details on the order. I've tried entering the last 4 digits on the card, which responds with an error message saying it could not be found. So I figured maybe it's the wrong card, I tried email instead, and it responds with nothing, no message saying it worked or didn't work, and my email has nothing in it.

Dunno whats going on here, anyone knows that when a user does an action, SOME response should occur, but yeah, thanks to plimus I don't know if it can't find it or if the sites broken or what :S Any help would be much appreciated!

Support / figured out what causes this widescreen glitch.
« on: February 23, 2008, 07:27:33 am »
Not totally certain, but it seems it may be a possibility, and chances are others have already realised this but thought I'd say anyway. Firstly, the problem is for some reoslutions on widescreen monitors, the game is off center and doesn't fit on the screen.

I just realised, using an Asus monitor (VW222U) it has an aspect control option which allows you to run a 4:3 game on the monitor using black bars on the side. Although this works in Aquaria for 1024*768 (which was never off center in the first place), it doesn't seem to work for the higher resolutions that are off center, instead the option is greyed out.

This option is ONLY greyed out when the monitor is already running in a widescreen resolution, hence even though I've selected a 4:3 resolution, Aquaria is NOT running at 4:3, it's still running widescreen but with the game window being displayed on the screen at 4:3, hence the reason the game isn't centered and is also off-screen. I think Aquaria may be forcing the monitor back to it's native res (1680*1050), while displaying the image in a portion of that space.

I don't know why aquaria is doing this, but if I'm right then I would assume there's something wrong with the way Aquaria is setting resolutions. Of course once the patch is released and proper 16:10 support is added this won't be a problem, but still, thought I'd throw this out there.

Keep in mind I'm not asking for help. If you know what I should do next please do not post it.
:(
Well, sorry, I overread that. But I wasn't exactly sure if you meant it and if you meant it, it was so off the track, you would've spend maybe hours for nothing.

Will kept my mouth shut now.  :-X

I still love you Xiagan!

this is awsome! I assume you've tried to make aquaria scale to any res more then fix widescreen specifically? Cause you do have that insanely wide pic on the first page :P

I really wanna try this, got myself a HD3870, so I'm hoping to run it at 1680*1050 without lag :)

Support / Water surface graphical glitch
« on: January 01, 2008, 06:25:23 am »
Hi everyone, just having another little glitch with Aquaria.

Firstly, here's a picture, I acctually had to go into "window" mode to take it, as in full screen when I used the screenshot button it would take a picture of my desktop and ignore the fact the game was running. Not sure if that info is relevent at all, but it is odd

Now, I just got a new PC, my old PC was a 3.2ghz PC with a 9800XT and never had this problem. The new one is using a duel core e6750 with an HD3870 GPU, 4GB's of ram, running Vista Buisness 64bit.

Now for some details, as you can see, the water is kinda black, but only half of it. As you swim downward, the whole water ends up going black, as you swim up, it turns to it's normal reflecitvness, if you jump out of the water, as you get higher it goes black again. So, further away you are from the surface plane, the worse it gets. As you can see, on the left side for some reason there isn't a problem, it seems able to reflect the cliff there just above the water, so it's probably an angle thing...

I was using an unpatched version of the game yesterday, and the whole water plane was black at all times, I noticed in the forum a reocmendation from Alec to upgrade to the newest patch to fix the problem, now with the newest patch, the water acctually is perfectly fine at 1024*768, it only seems to cause problems when I go in and change the config file to make it 1600*1200 (haven't tested other resolutions as the screen ends up offset at odd places). So, taking a completely random stab here but maybe it has to do with the number of pixels between the surface of the water, the character and the angle of whatever it's trying to reflect? It would kinda explain why the cliff is reflected on the left side... But yeah I have no idea how your algorithm for that even works so I'm no doubt completely of the mark :P

Anyway, hope to get some info on this! Your latest patch was obviously on the right track somewhere.

Support / Re: Vista and surround sound?
« on: January 01, 2008, 02:08:35 am »
actually I have the full version :)

What I meant to say was that I'm not sure if Aquaria ever used surround sound, as I didn't really take note of it with my old PC (which was running XP), but now that I have Vista, I did notice that the only speakers doing anything in Aquaria are the left and right front speakers, which is what happens in Vista if a game is using DirectSound. hehe guess this goes to show, you only really notice something when it's gone :P

In Vista anything that uses DirectSound ends up running completely in software so you loose alot of quality and only stereo will work. I just looked into OpenAL and fmod, and I think adding OpenAL support is actually going to require a complete re-write of the sound system unless you did make it API independent... even then it's going to be dodgy as apparently OpenAL is high level while DirectSound is low level. I've only briefly used FMod before so I have no idea myself lol <_<

Anyway, really hope you can fix this! It would be effecting everyone with Vista except those with a sound card that supports Creative Alchemy.

EDIT: Further on that, it now works... I have no idea why, just booted the game again, and now got full high quality surround sound. I don't know what fixed it, but I assume there's other people out there who did have the same problem I did? If so, say something, cause if not, well, no reason to add openAL support lol.
