Support / Re: SOS!!!!!! Sound error

I was gonna say...  my headphone wires are frayed and I have similar sound issues from time to time.

But I just have to ask: "a tiny little ghost exploding inside a TV with no service with the sound turned down to one".  What the hell??

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I don't think the money would be there for you to do a Linux version.  I could be wrong, of course, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be willing to pay again for a Linux native version when I have it working in Windows, and Wine.  If it was a small fee maybe, but I couldn't justify full price for a game I already own.

I'm afraid I haven't played it under Wine much since it just runs that little bit faster in Windows, so I can't help debug any issues.

Well, the unpatched version uses a IE based registration window.  It's likely something with that (if it only happened on the first run).

Alec, not sure if you are willing to answer this, but is their any sort of compression/encryption on data.000?  You don't have to tell me what it is of course, just if it exists before I spend time trying to figure something out and bang my head against the wall in frustration.

Honestly, I thought about this while at work for a while, and decided that you at least could contact his ISP with a notice that you suspect him of illegal activity.  I would have deleted the thread also.  I agree with how you've said you feel that you can't stop people from doing what they do, but you likely don't want to harbor it on your own forums.

But that is only me, and since I haven't seen you delete anything yet you're probably also strictly against being a censor.

I'm definetely up to waiting, but I'm not going to pay for music that I have already paid for.
Arg.  I see why you get so frustrated Alec.  I'm going now.

For the record, if you put it out I at least will buy it, for whatever that knowledge is worth to you.

That's what I figured.
I'm certainly going to be waiting for your official soundtrack.  I actually have been making a habit of collecting game soundtracks, especially when they have extra content.  Please keep us updated with whatever information you can though; I realize good things do take time.

Er, I'm not quite sure how Alec would feel about a link.  He said he's alright with it being out there but I don't want to cause any trouble.  Just google what you're looking for, very easy to find actually.

It looks like the music was recorded during play.  44,1 KHz 16 bit 220 kbps VBR Joint Stereo MP3 according to the site.  Certainly not the best, but enough until I can buy a CD from you, Alec.

What are you using to trace this?  The only time Aquaria does anything on the internet (to my knowledge) is during activation; which may have been removed with the latest update.

I'm guessing there's a difference between the driver vsync and the games then.  I have both on and I'm actually getting noticeable lag :(

I'll try messing with my driver settings I guess.

Well, I can actually answer that one for you.  Its a yes.  I've installed it on my Windows partition and then again later under Linux/Wine.  Just save your installer file, the link you're emailed link does expire and the only way to get a new one is to email Alec and Derek.

This is actually a feature I like.  It saved my ass in the first boss fight.

General / Re: Aquaria Demo - Linux & Wine (good news!)
« on: December 10, 2007, 03:17:17 am »
Both were selected.  I did find these lines in the console as Wine started:

Code: [Select]
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found(1024x768x32)! (XRandR)
xrerr:andr:X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode Resolution change not successful -- perhaps display has changed?

Running xrandr does show a 1024x768 resolution (and it's listed in xorg.conf), so I'm guessing something's wrong in my xorg.conf relating to color depth? In the Screen section a line says "DefaultDepth 24", but nothing else mentions color depth.

I guess it really isn't a problem, since Aquaria itself runs perfectly in a window.  It just breaks the immersion a little bit.
Hmm, I had this exact problem when trying to run FF8 and Diablo II under Wine a few months ago.  I'm pretty sure it is an error with your xorg.conf (that or a bug in xrandr/xorg).  What version of x.org are you running?  And if you're running Compiz disable it before launch, it often causes problems with OpenGL apps.

!!! That fixed it :)  I've been hanging out on this forum looking for a solution; never thought to go to WineHQ :/

Thank you Alec for rewriting the activation.  Thank you thechef for posting here with the information.
