Hello all,
I've recently run through the game and noted down absolutely everything I found, and made a set of maps out of them.
I know we already have a map of the game, but I'd like to think that this one is a little more...complete.
Let me know what you think! I'm more than happy to add on to what's here, especially if it's missing something.
I was hoping that through our cooperation, we could make up a guide for the game together. Maybe.
Another thought I had was to put in the cooking guide that's found on this forum, and put more in about finding the treasures.
I've put it up on my website, please feel free to host it yourself if you can, since it's around 6.5MB it's probably going to toast my bandwidth pretty quick if everyone downloads it at once.
Comments, questions, suggestions always welcome!
I put them in a pdf for convenient cross-platforming capabilities (man that's a lot of C's)
--> Aquaria_maps.pdf (http://www.yandwproductions.com/games/aquaria_maps.pdf) <-- (6,750,750 Bytes)

wow, amazing. looked through the whole thing and it really covers a lot of bases. it made me think of something I had been wondering if the bulb contents are the same everytime you play, reason I wonder is they are not the same colour each time.
this is a super informative map and very well produced to boot. there was a couple of things that I didn't know about, like an arcane poultice I missed en route to Mithalis. my only suggestion would be to add a key to what the various symbols you added mean. I can infer what they are if I jog my memory to what was in that area, but some of the little dots ( grey circle with dot in it, light blue dots on #15 ) I'm not sure what their exact meanings are. I am amazed that you indicated all the leaves! and the unmappable areas in kelp forest and sun temple. it's very thorough!
by cooking guide, I can imagine you are thinking a nice graphical, x-referenced one arn't you. for CCC how about html? that way the ingredients can be linked with the recipies. I'm thinking like on www.peeron.com where it shows what Lego brick comes in what colours, what set, what year etc.
-
This map really is amazing. Very good job!
And inkblob, the bulb contents are the same every time. I got red bulbs exactly the same spots where he listed it and not on others where he listed special bulbs.
You can host it at www.willhostforfood.com, they allow hotlinking and your bandwith will not die. ;)
And I think the adding of a legend would be cool too. Like: small green dot = leaves you can plug, ...
-
Wow! Incredible and amazing work you done there! The map's got everything, what's needed. If you do have time to make some additional work on this stuff, try to make the legend, so everything will be fully clear to all people, because some might just not understand for what some spots are placed for :).
and keep up the good work :)
-
I'm amazed by all the other people in here, the only thing that I think that's missing is that you can swim against some currents and not against others.
Further, that's a perfect map. VERY good job.
-
Wow!!!! Great job!!! Just one question, how long did it take you to complete the whole map?
-
Great job. :) Its cool to see everything laid out like that.
-
Wow!!!! Great job!!! Just one question, how long did it take you to complete the whole map?
I can't remember off hand, since I don't have the files handy, but it took me at least 25 hours of work, since I'd estimate it took me twice as long as the save file I used to explore.
I'm amazed by all the other people in here, the only thing that I think that's missing is that you can swim against some currents and not against others.
I thought about doing that, and I still might do it. Maybe you'll see that in the update. And I think the adding of a legend would be cool too. Like: small green dot = leaves you can plug, ...
Yeah, I knew I forgot something when I was throwing the whole deal together. I had a full page for the legend, but I guess it slipped through the cracks when I made the pdf. It'll be in the update for sure.
I think I'll also work on the ingredient list on the last page. Maybe I'll switch it out and put in the recipe guide that's in a forum topic here, with images of each ingredient, its effects, where to find it, all that good stuff. It'll take a while, but I think it'll be nice to have all that info in one place.
Maybe I could even get some snazzy artwork for the guide from Alec or Derek? The media release artwork is all well and good, but I don't want to get in trouble by adding copyrighted stuff they hadn't cleared for public release. Of course, I could just stick in a disclaimer at the end, or something.
-
Well, I must say that's incredible. I think there are a few things on there that I didn't find. Not that I really felt a need for items, but it would have saved some time finding certain menu items. Can't say enough praise really. Good work.
-
I thought I'd ask here before I go crazy.
Does anyone have isolated images (no background or whatever) of all the ingredients? Kind of like the ones you see on my maps, but with the black "cartoon" border still intact. The ones I have on file lost their border when I was trying to extract them from screenshots, that's why I had to make the background black.
Since I'm putting together the complete list of ingredients/recipes I thought it'd be nice to have clean images to display for each entry.
Alec? Derek? Is there any way I could get the cooking images straight from the source? That would obviously be best, since they'd be full-size with the highest level of detail and completely clean. Please!
-
The only thing you missed is the second health egg.
You would not BELIEVE how frustrated I was when trying to find it.
-
It's a beautiful and well put together map momruoy, it's been so useful to me thank you :D I can't find the map in the game any more so I was really pleased with yours and it still makes me work at finding things :D
-
Double click the minimap?

Double click the minimap?
Thank you Alphsoldier I've had help in the 'I'm stuck' thread :-*
-
Funny. I just discovered the glowing plant that brings glowing jellyfishes to your home cave in my second run. Seems as if I totally missed it the first time without noticing that I missed it. :P
-

I found it without even looking Xiagan, there I was just minding my own business and whoops I have this weird globe lol
-
Are we talking about the jelly fish egg from the Abyss or the Glowing Bulb from the song cave?
-
The jelly fish plant (not egg, it draws them to your home) fromt he abyss.
-
I meant globe plant :D
Now can someone help me with the Sun Temple please, only I just can't get up those cogs or the tower, so any hints on where to jump from would be nice ::) I did read some place that you need to fiddle with the gears but nothing I do has any affect on them at all?
-
Well the help all depends on how far you are in the temple. I glean from one of your other posts that you know about spinning the gears by spinning. If that's so then you should have realized that doing so raises the water level (and lowers it, if it's already raised). You might not realize that you can bind the blue crystal. If you're past that, let me know.

lol I try to bind every thing strange and the only reason why I didn't try spinning was because I forgot about the ability for a while :-[ I passed the temple and I now have sunform, thank you Glamadour, I am so enjoying this game that I am forgetting meal times lol
-
Does anyone know how many of the Special red bulbs there are, only I have been searching the Kelp forest like a crazy thing trying to find more of them. So far I have found just 3, so is it worth keeping up the search?
-
Red Bulbs
Used in making Cold Borscht, Hot Borscht and the Volcano roll.
Where to find:
* A glowing plant in Kelp Forest (above the cave with the Nymphs) has two of them.
* Another glowing plant in Kelp Forest (after a fish tunnel behind the fish with the worm in it who drops the buttery sealoaf) has two of them.
That's from the Aquaria-Wiki (http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Aquaria) we started some time ago. I think there are 1-3 more red bulbs in the game, but definitely not in Kelp Forest.
-
Those are the ones I've found Xiagan, that means I must search elsewhere then, thank you for ending my futile search there. I haven't yet carried out a good search of the Body so I'll try that next.... That should be fun lol
-
Red bulbs are mostly early in the game I think. Some are at the very beginning of the game, aren't they?
-
One was in the very first part I remember that but I know for sure that there is no point going back there, so there is every chance that I have found all that I'm going to but there's no harm in trying for a short while.
-
Are we talking about the jelly fish egg from the Abyss or the Glowing Bulb from the song cave?
That is confusing because I have just found the one from the abyss and now all the spaces in my game are full, what a wonderful feeling :D And I found one easter egg on my travels :D
-
And I found one easter egg on my travels :D
And that may be? :)
-
I posted a screenshot of it don't you remember Xiagan? Ok I'll give you an hint on where to find it There is more to the whale song cave than just whale song and lanterns ;)
-
Ah, this one. Yes, I remember. :)
-
Ah, this one. Yes, I remember. :)
Have you found it and are there more? hint hint? ;D

The download dies for me. Can someone mirror it please?

I know that in the mac version, all sprites are located in the resources folder of the application itself (right-click, show package contents).

edit: I'm referring to your request for untarnished images of ingredients, etc., just so you know
-
Hello

I heard something go bump in the night. :) I answered your question on the new topic you created - one time is enough! ;D Welcome (http://www.bit-blot.com/forum/index.php?topic=18.0) to the forums.

edit: I'm referring to your request for untarnished images of ingredients, etc., just so you know
I know that in the Windows version there is a folder in the "gfx" folder called "ingredients" which has clean images of every ingredient as well as every food. I would assume the folder would be in the same place in the Mac version.
-
Funny. I just discovered the glowing plant that brings glowing jellyfishes to your home cave in my second run. Seems as if I totally missed it the first time without noticing that I missed it. :P
It's an easy one to miss, I even missed the fact that I had found it the first time that I played the game lol
-
Just a heads up: The Ice Cavern is not on this map.
EDIT: And Chibi is right, of course.
-
Is it not? If not, then the area below the Ice Veil is the Ice Caverns, and was lumped in with the former.
-
For some reason it's up at the top when you expect it to be down near the abyss, but like Chibi has infered, it's there alrighty :D
-
Sorry about grave digging but I thought that I might tag a message onto the end here to let you know that it's not possible to acccess the map? It might just be a glich or it might be permanent I which case I do have a copy saved just let me know if anyone wants it :)
-
I accessed it perfectly ... is it a problem on your end?
-
I accessed it perfectly ... is it a problem on your end?
Well it must of been a glitch then, problem solved move on folks lol
Sites go down sometimes Chibi, sometimes for good and sometimes just for a short while I was just being too previous :D
-
I know ... seems as though this one only lasted two hours. ;)
-
No I still can't access it, so either I have lost the original link or FF is really being bloody minded! :( Can you give me your link Chibi? I know that I have a copy but I would need a few hours searching to find it and that is no use when someone needs help..
-
Here it is: http://www.yandwproductions.com/games/aquaria_maps.pdf (http://www.yandwproductions.com/games/aquaria_maps.pdf) :)
-
Oh I can't acces that one at all Chibi, for some reason my version of acrobat doesn't work, I really must remember to mention it to Darryl next time he calls over.
No I meant this one and it's still not there so the site owner must of removed it to save space :( http://mods.whahay.net/Jester/aquaria/aquariamap1.jpg (http://mods.whahay.net/Jester/aquaria/aquariamap1.jpg)
-
Oh. I can't access that one either. I saved it on my old computer, so I could post it here - should I post the image below, link to it, or have a link to a file hosting service? I'll have it ready within the week - I just need to find it on my crappy five year old laptop and move it to my shiny 17-incher. :)
-
I don't know Chibi, but if you can find a host for it and you can spare the bandwidth then that would be great :D
-
I highly recommend www.willhostforfood.com . :)
-
Took me a little while but I knew I had this somewhere...really need to clean my project folders to be more straightforward.

Great TheBear - do you mind posting the complete URL? Just in case. Thanks!

Um, I'm having a problem with the Arnassi Armor. Before beating the final boss I decided to find everything that can be found in the world, so I used the maps. I've been to the Arnassi Gauntlet before and didn't notice any armor there. I came there again, and still there wasn't any armor. I also have a strange feeling that I found it already, but I don' have it in my inventory. Does something special has to be done to get this suit?
-
Yes, you have to sing a song to start a certain race and then race against time in the gauntlet.
THEN you'll be awarded with the costume.
I sorta figured the notes on the wall would be enough.
-
Well, yeah. I did the race. I even think I won, but there still wasn't any armor. Or maybe I didn't win... I'm not sure. How is it shown if you do, anyway?
-
If it's right a time will show up at the bottom, I'm not sure if it's already there, it's been a long time since I did that race.
Either way, there's a rock with some numbers or the infinity sign on it near the bottom of the beginning of the gauntlet, which is also where the costume appears.
-
OK, I got the Arnassi armor, using Fish and Spirit forms and the two blue crystals to beat the race. And it seems to me that I should have all the costumes and treasures. However, two places in the treasure inventory are empty, which is odd. Does anyone know, what should be there between the Arnassi statue and Jelly Beacon on the first page and between the Black Pearl and the Urchin Costume on the second page? These slots are empty for me...
-
Between your Map and Ixis Guide I am only missing three: The Jelly armor, The Glowing plant and something else. Thankee so much. Still hunting down the better recipes And I will complete this at 100% >:D that's how I beat both Super metroid, Metroid Prime, as well as Legend of Zelda Link to the Past and LOZ Phantom Hourglass. SM was an accident, Prime I explored the daylights out of it, LOZLTP I made some online effort. This I actually found a good deal before coming here. So due to you're and Ixis assitance, A thousand thanks.
-
Those were the two relics from the Sun temple I missed... I got it all now. Thanks for the maps!
-
Has anyone ever gone back to Naija's little cave after having collected all the treasures? Is it possible?
I'd love to see what it looks like :)
-
Yup, it's totally possible.
If you want I could try making a youtube video of it.
-
There's a special sea turtle in the body before the boss set there especially for the purpose of being able to go back through all the areas (including you home) and doing everything you want to do before you finish the game (also to stock up on food before the final battles).
-
Yup, it's totally possible.
If you want I could try making a youtube video of it.
I would appreciate it greatly! :D
-
Well, the video's finally done, but the quality is unbelievably low compared to the recording I made.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vB2_lGp6g0
If ANYONE knows how to convert a 3,33GB FRAPS file into a good quality Youtube video, please tell me.
-
Dude! I SO appreciate this! I didn't even know about the kelp forest part of her crib until now!
And the cute little sighs and giggles made along the tour was totally a plus ^-^
Thank you so much!
-
No problem, am glad ya liked it! xD
EDIT: Funfacts:
I have rehearsed that runthrough 4 times and got 3 failed recordings.
First recording there was somethign wrong with Fraps and it didn't work, made the stroll without the camera on.
Second recording I noticed my resolution was not at the right setting,
Third recording went almost okay besides a few Li calling blunders and some one on the background IMing me on msn.
Finally, after everything was right and I did the final recording... I did it differently than all the other rehearsals and previous recordings. XD
-
When I did my Boss Battle series of videos (series of 2...never finished it) I recorded with FRAPS and got the same giant filesize. But if you use the Windows Movie Maker to cut and format it then you can condense if down quite small. It will upload to YouTube quite easily after that. Though getting the right settings took some trial and error.
-
The link http://www.yandwproductions.com/games/aquaria_maps.pdf (http://www.yandwproductions.com/games/aquaria_maps.pdf) does not work (website doesn't exist). I've got this (http://studentpages.scad.edu/~doconn21/aquaria/aquariamap1.jpg) version of the big map but it's not complete, half the treasures are missing for example and there are areas I've been to in the game that are not on the map. So where is the complete map?
-
I uploaded it for ya... though on the most bogus site.
Linky (http://www.filefactory.com/file/b001ge7/n/aquaria_maps.pdf)
I'm hating that one site after another that I use is disappearing.
-
Sorry, I don't see where to download the file. Clicking the big download button just gives me an ad page.
EDIT
Never mind, found the maps elsewhere...
Clicky! (http://www.findthatfile.com/fileinfo.php?i=1511234&t=hPDF&f=Aquaria-Maps.pdf)
-
If you would've looked at the page for 2 seconds longer and scrolled down you could've seen a download button you ungrateful one.
And after you clicked the download button there's a huge line of text saying your download link will be ready in XX seconds and is at the bottom of the page.
Youth of nowadays. >:[
-
Well if there wasn't so much crap (adverts etc) on that page then I would have seen it, thanks anyway for the link.
-
Seeing WHFF is down I don't have any other good sites, if you know any, feel free to point them out.
-
Mega uploads perhaps?
-
Depositfiles, Rapidshare, there's a hundred of 'em. I remember just 6 or 7 years ago you couldn't find free file hosting ANYWHERE.
-
Mega uploads could be a possibility, Rapidshare SUCKS, Depositfiles seems to be just as shitty as Rapidshare.
Is there no site like willhostforfood any more?
-
I remember using a site called box.com(.net?) for storage a few years back, don't know if it's still around but I think it's worth a look into.
-
I hear people bashing Rapidshare all the time. I say it's all propaganda. Every free hosting site I've been to makes you wait (usually less than a minute) for files. They all give you the same set of pre-made HTML links + delete link when you upload a file, and the downloads are almost never interrupted by something on their side of the interweb.
So please, tell me, what's so horrible about Rapidshare?
-
Not being able to download my files because there are no more regular member download slots anymore.
Rapidshare is as unreliable as that old best friend that let you hang when you needed him the most.
-
Hey, I think you should try box.net (http://www.box.net/). It just requires registration to be able to upload files.
That's the page where I upload everything that's not an image or a video, and I have been quite satisfied. :v
There's no advertisements, no waiting... You just click the link and click the big DOWNLOAD button there and we're done.
-
Yay, it lives! ;D
-
I just don't understand where free file hosting sites get their money. ???
-
I just don't understand where free file hosting sites get their money. ???
Three words. Advertising, advertising, advertising. ;) Most of that goes towards their survival, and donations/premium accounts help...
[EDIT]: Edited. ^-^
-
Then there's always memberships and donations, which also keep it up.
But I'll try Box.net, seems very handy... as long as it stays free.
EDIT: No direct linking, another fail for that.
-
I use depositfiles. I'll give Alpha that point about running out of download slots against rapid. They didn't always do that.

Oh, come on! How picky can someone be about something they're trying to get for free?!
box.net is a great site.
-
It is a great site for personal use, I never said otherwise, just a fail for not having something as simple as direct linking for free.
And seeing there are loads of free hosting sites, I might as well go for the best one.
WHFF was great and I bet/hope there are sites alike.
-
Please, can anyone mark on yhe map the secret place in The Abyss wiht Gloving Plant?
-
On the map I downloaded the glowing plant is clearly marked already. Near the right side of 'Abyss 1'.
-
I've been lurking this forum for a few days. I came here because of the Humble Indie Bundle (http://www.wolfire.com/humble) - and now I am obsessed with this game. LOL I came to find out strategies to kill the end boss in Milithril City, and the boss tips guide helped. Thank you forum contributors.
I'd like to give back. :)
Well, the video's finally done, but the quality is unbelievably low compared to the recording I made.

If ANYONE knows how to convert a 3,33GB FRAPS file into a good quality Youtube video, please tell me.
Youtube, while being accessible to the largest audience, is horrible for this kind of thing. http://www.gameanyone.com/PC/Aquaria.html is much better for complete videos of games. If you had a speed run, I'd recommend http://speeddemosarchive.com/. You don't, but somebody may find the information useful and/or upload their attempt.
For converting video formats, a process known as transcoding (useful as a search term), I have found VLC Media Player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ to be the best combination of free, easy to use, and performs beyond expectations. If you can play your recorded video in VLC, it can be saved to a different format. Find the Streaming/Export option in the menus and go from there. I'd recommend saving the final video as H.264 encoding in the .mp4 container. That way, you can make chapter stops and even add your own captions if you so desire.
I've not converted a FRAPS capture myself, so hopefully this works for you. If not, there are other free programs that will work, but they are not as easy to use.

Drop.io is a fabulous site for free file sharing, and the uploads don't expire for up to 1 year after the last time it was viewed. I don't know if there's any hidden issues, but I've never run into any problems.
BTW, I also got Aquaria via the Humble Bundle, and I too am now obsessed with it. What a fabulous game!

I already have Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTUxODEyNjg5) now, it's an amazing site where you just put things in a folder on your comp and it gets automatically updated and uploaded, you have private folders and public folders, amazing place, beats any free hosting site with ease.

The only problem with Dropbox is if you actually use it for syncing, large files in your public folder can drive you crazy with the sync times. xD
And the space limits. Have too many files and you won't have enough room for your own usage anymore. ._.
I also hate the disorganized mess my Public folder can become, so I avoid using it as much as possible, because once I put something in there, I can't exactly remove (or even move) it without raising questions, and I'm always trying to organize everything as much as possible. :(
Some people say I have OCD. xD
-
That's why I have a hierarchy, ever since I've been lost in my files so many times before and lost everything on my comp I started putting everything in their respected unique folder, except for temporary files.
Also I think 8gig is more than enough for some mods and even movie files.
Finally, syncing times may be long, but would it be any longer if you'd use a crap hosting site like megaupload? I think not, so everything you say is either already at it's best or can easily be avoided.
-
Also I think 8gig is more than enough for some mods and even movie files.
I only have 2.25 gb. :( I don't advertise my referral link like you do. ._.
-
It's a great site, people should know about it.
Didn't appreciate mister Wizarduss newbie suddenly advertising his, but eh, what can a man do.

hey. I've almost finished the game, but have been wandering around looking for hidden stuff. I think I've got everything except....
On the mini-map, each portal to another area has a white circle that glows on the edge. I've found two that I can't get to. One is on the East side of the Veil 1, and the other is on the south side of the Veil 3. In the overview, there's a space where another map could be, but I haven't seen it listed anywhere.
what's going on? Easter Egg? do I need noclip?
-
I'm entirely unsure of what you're talking about but I can assure you that every place, no matter how high or deep or anything is accessible without cheats.
And Succubus, I really don't have 8 gigs yet. I wanna bet you have more than me even.
-

I see the the one below the Sun Temple in the Veil, but I don't know how it might be reached (if it can be--I suspect not). The other one, on the east side of the first Veil zone... I'm not sure what you're referring to there, as the only exit that seems to fit your description is a Kelp Forest entrance.
I'd say that it's intriguing, but probably just a glitch. My curiosity and bewilderment were equally piqued when I noticed that there appeared to be an unreachable save point somewhere just below the Sun Gear treasure in Naija's home, but it seems to be just that--unreachable.
[EDIT] Also, welcome! Pretty rad game, huh? Have you deciphered the carved symbols on the walls yet?

I switched the pictures. :3

I think the link needs to be updated.

I just uploaded the maps to Mediafire:
