I'll confess that I couldn't care less about what other people thought about anything.  My opinions are the only ones that matter to me.  I like the genres I like, I'm not a fan of RTS's either, and every game will have people that love it and hate it.  That is all.

Ooh, I did take a week off university to play RE4; this was an exceptionally stupid thing to do, as I was something like nine weeks from graduating at the time and had barely started my final project.

  • Consider Prince of Persia: Sands of Time the most overrated game I've ever played

I couldn't disagree more, lol, I consider it to be probably the very best game of all games. It's on the same level as the original Prince of Persia, but even better... Basically it has it all, interesting and cool gameplay, great story and excellent storytelling, enough length for the bucks you pay for it and even some replay value because of all this. It one of the few games I still play actually. I don't play Crysis anymore, don't play Quake Wars anymore, don't play Supreme Commander anymore etc. , I don't play a lot of the 'current' top games anymore. But I do play the Prince of Persia trilogy games still. I also occasionally play Duke 3D and the original Quake 1, definitely games that belong in my personal top 5 of Best games ever.

Same here, but if people have good arguments... I might change my mind, so basically other people's opinions do matter to me. It's (not impossible but) unlikely that I will follow hypes though, I'm anti-hyped games. ;)

Okay, this is gamer confessions, I think it's about what kind of embarrassing things you've done with consoles when you were a kid or something. Even when you weren't a kid.

Not about how you think about games, that's not embarrassing that's just showing your opinion.

Even thought I agree with PHeMoX, besides the Prince of Persia thing. It was a good game, but it was definitely retarded. The story made everything BUT sense and the psyche of all the people there were fake, itś like watching robots with fake emotions decide.. It was just.. retarded. But VERY good gameplay, much like Prince of Persia 3, a game I truly loved and replayed multiples times.

Aah, yes, mmm, I know..., more drama! :p Mmm, let me think... naah, there's not much embarrassing for me to admit I think.

Same here, and that's all well and good and I'm very happy for you, but that is not what this thread is about.

You mean there was a story?

I'll just redirect you here for a more full opinion of my part. (http://lifeoffiction.blogspot.com/2007/04/prince-of-painersia.html)

Man you are entitled to your opinions but that is an extraordinarily whiny review.

That's how disappointed I was with the game. I'm not usually that whiny.

Falls to instant death? Missing a jump by a pixel? Infuriating fighting? Clichéd plot? Sounds like it follows right on from its predecessors  ^-^

You couldn't reverse time, in them, though :(

Yeah, they were one hour long.

(The thing that bugged me about your review is that the reasons you gave for disliking the game sound less like flaws in the actual design and more like You Kind Of Suck At Prince Of Persia.)

FURTHER CONFESSIONS

A bit of column A and a bit of column B.

I've played games much harder than Prince of Persia and in which I sucked a lot more.  But missing a jump (and dying) because the camera moves to an awkward angle or because my computer lagged a microsecond is not much my fault.

However it annoyed me a lot more how repetitive (and pointless) the game was.

By the way.  Sonic 3 + Knuckes for the sega mega drive/genesis is THE sonic game and the best game I've played on that system.

...because my computer lagged a microsecond is not much my fault.

I'd like to play devil's advocate here and say that the console versions never lagged for me (even on gamecube :o - also I did have it for PC and still didn't have the problem), so that is either a) a bad port, which is hardly bad game design or b) your computer being underpowered, which is hardly bad game design.

As for the camera angles, I always found it much more important to keep the rhythm than to actually watch the screen; you pretty much always have a chance to look ahead of you and scout out the whole area anyway.

True.  But it still isn't my fault (I'm not necessarily blaming the game for it. But many games do give a little more slack). And I still failed a lot of jumps by a microsecond even when the pc didn't lag.

(oh, and before you say that it is indeed my fault that I hadn't a decent pc at the time: I'm still not financially independent and depending on my parents my pc would still be running at 100Mhz  ;))

As for the camera angles, I always found it much more important to keep the rhythm than to actually watch the screen; you pretty much always have a chance to look ahead of you and scout out the whole area anyway.

Not quite. The fact that you know things are there is not the same as knowing exactly where when you get there.

And I recall one situation in particular where you had to do a wall jump into a hanging column where I had no idea how far the it was when I started and then the camera would shift into a position where you couldn't even see if you were aligned with the column. For a long time I thought I was probably be going the wrong way because it was a nearly impossible jump.

Look, I've admitted the game is okay. Just highly overrated. And quite frankly the fact that you guys are trying to prove that I suck at it won't change anything since the difficulty of the game was still one of the things that annoyed me the least.
