Okay, so I decided to go get some stuff to help me in the cathedral in terms of keeping health up, since I was dismally low in that department. So anyway, I was wondering, does all the nature form do is plant two different types of seeds? Or can it do something else? What about those large thorny vines, can it get rid of those?
-
It can do anything you imagine... (echo)
I mean, uh, yeah... That's really it. The seeds are used for quick(er) transport, if you can figure out where to plant them, though.
Also, the anemones can't hurt you in nature form... And you can kill them with your briar pillars.
Other than that, you can get some nice velocity if you launch yourself with one, too. :)
It's a fun form, despite it being the least easy to use.
-
Quicker transport? All i'm seeing are little flower or a big spike being produced- is it a bit faster than your usual form?
So is there something else that can chew through those vines? lol I hate to be so inquisitive but this game is so interesting, there's so much!
Then how can one bloom those large red blossom pods? I thought they'd be related to the nature form.
I know a fish form is somewhere in the kelp forest too.
-
When you got the nature form you should have been right next to one of the things it's able to open up. Go back there and look around and toss a few seeds around, you'll figure it out.
-
@Karn
What's up with the sound effect that goes with "quicker travel"? I thought that was weird as hell.
-
Awesome, thanks Quemaqua. I had remembered those bulbous bunkers but didn't think they were organic! Nice.
I'm trying to delay fighting the boss in the Cathedral as much as I can- is the only song in the Cave of Song (did I get that right?) Bind?
-
Unfortunately after you get Nature Form, in order to advance any further you need to fight "that cathedral boss". :P
I can give you pointers, though, if you'd like.
Are you stuck on him, or is the cathedral just too hard in general? It's a tough zone, especially for the first(ish) one in the game.

Yes, it is. You can get something else there, though.

I love Nature Form. Its attack is certainly useful, especially since most enemies can't seem to grasp the concept that thorns=pain.
Also, here's a fun one: Throw some briars onto a rock, bind it to yourself, turn back into nature, and swim around with that thing. It's like a giant flail of death :)
-
And what might that be RvLeshrac? ^^
I guess I need to try out nature form somewhere tame, like in Home Waters or something, to get used to it.
Karn, I'd love some help.
The thing is I just keep dying, often when I try to get close while it's drawing in and I miss it and get stuck somewhat behind it, reducing my health. I do need to stock up on healing objects, that's probably the key- because I've gotten up to feeding him three poisoned frogmen before he goes ballistic and shoots the stream of energy balls. What should I do when it does that?
I should do better next time I face him, I have more health now than I had before due to a powerup in the kelp forest, but it still is a bit aggravating. Is there any pointers to switch between regular with shield form to reflect his blasts and then energy form to him in the back . What about places to hide without getting scooped up?
-
@Zeno:
Epic attack technique !
I'm trying it out now.

Ahh, you've actually gotten so close! :P
When he goes berserk and starts shooting the streams of fireballs, he won't make any more friends.
Just eat an Energy+1 food and start firing until he finally gives up and dies.
-
How does one make an energy + attack food again?

It is totally weird. :D
And Zeno, that sounds really kewl. Together with the urchin helmet you are one spikey juggernaut. :D
Uhm...it's the spicey roll... you need a three slot kitchen and spicy meat+leaf+? (fish oil I think, but dunno atm, sorry)

I found it sounded like someone saying "Hello" in a crazy voice.
@ Xiagan
Yeah it's fish oil.
@ Zeno
The flail of death rock sounds like a brilliant idea, I never thought of doing that.
@ Oath
I don't know whether you already know this but you can switch forms using the number keys. While I try not to do so I sometimes find it necessary (if you come across the giant jellyfish side boss you'll see what I mean!).

wow, didn't know that.
It certainly makes switching forms ALOT faster, like you could switch to normal, do a quick bind then switch back, really fast.
-
Wow, I guess I'll have to try it out then.
-
Still, I've pretty much mastered the art of using the singing to switch forms quickly, especially in the large silo shaped room of the energy temple.
However, like lukich said, it would be useful in certain situations to use the number keys.
-
I found that against mithralas (cathedral boss) for maximum hilarity, use the shield song when he goes nuts =D
..only problem is you have to either keep using it or not take the full blast in the face cause your shield wears out.
-
Lol, I did that too. I finally beat him. Now where are we supposed to go? I'm currently swimming around the veil.

That's what I did.
Also, tough cake is your friend. Most definitely.

Can anyone give me a hint as to how to get rid of those vines in the Kelp forest? I got the nature form (which I thought would allow me to control or move them but guess not...
-
Can't get rid of those vines. Of course, they don't hurt you if you're in Nature Form, but they never go away.
On a side note, Nature Form is my absolute favorite. While Energy Form is purely offensive, Nature is both offensive and defensive.
-
You can't get rid of them, but there is always a way around them... ;)
-

that's a crazy attack :o sort of have to be careful not to flail yourself when switching out. I've been toting a rock around for shield and fishing, so this just upgraded my rock, behehe. I got about 7-8 good seconds out of this attack using the keyboard switching technique mentioned above. launch the seed onto the rock; swap out to Naija; bind; swap out to nature. it's not too much more effective then just towing a rock around and there is lots of opportunity for Naija to prick herself on it, so not sure how often I'd actually use it, but very creative regardless :D
nature has some peculiar relations with some of the kelp forest denizens. the bouncy jellyfish that you pinball off, she dosn't seem to be as adversly affected by them. she can play pool with those bouncy spiky orange things, as well as those tentacly, invicible critters that are attracted to song.
Lailoken suggested somewhere else making a briar tent and hanging out in that, and have used that to good effect, also making briar walls on either side, or in a cave system having a stalactite and stalagmite system going. if you can cage a monster into a pen of briars that's pretty damning, bouncing off those will finish it off quick. you can advance through an area by going behind a briar, launching one, then going behind that, and setting up a very effective defensive enivornment.
a couple of monsters react a bit funny to the briars, those bouncing gremlin like creatures that take a few hits and turn red, they seem to damage the briars, and the mergogs bounce right off screen? except for mobs in open water, nature can really devestate, and even in a lot of those places there are mushrooms to plant them on. it's a bit of practice to figure out her lob, but after a bit you can predict fairly accuratly her range and the angle they'll pop out at.
-
What they don't mention is that the flail of death only lasts for a couple of seconds.
-
don't think this would wreck the game, having briars planted on bindable objects lasting twice as long. something to do with the magic of the verse enhancing their power ;)
-

Yeah, I'd be down for that.
-
Meh, I'd be with the option that the briar plants stay as long as they want as long as you're still in nature form, when changing they vanish in a few seconds, that's how I would've done it anyway.
Not to question the way you did it, Alec. =p
-
Yea it would be nice to have Briars stay a bit longer for the flail, but when I accidentally trap myself I wish they would last less time...maybe you could add a feature to the uncharged attack that it destroys briars?
-
Just make 3 new ones somewhere else and you're out of there, not that hard. =p
-
Riiiight because I really didn't know that. I'm not a fan of such needless tedious-ness. I don't know why but having to charge three times to get out of a situation like that really irks me.
-
I didn't know it when I was with the jellyfish boss... Very VERY frustrating.
