Are you guys really making an Aquaria 2? O are you just really annoying in the jokes department?

Because i would relly like to get the next chapter of that story...

I really want to make it. We have plans for this whole storyline and where it all goes. I don't think we'd work on it right away though, have something else in the works atm.

Also its kinda interesting, we planned the "to be continued" ending to only happen when you collected certain things that we thought would be hard to collect. But apparently not, a lot of people are getting that ending first. I was thinking that people would play with the shorter ending first and then the hardcore players would find out that we were hoping to make a sequel and some hints on what it would be about.

Well, most people who love Aquaria are into exploring and therefore explore as much as possible. ;)

I finished Aquaria last weekend and really, really enjoyed it. I was thinking about writing a post talking about how I liked it, but I probably said it best in the email I sent Alec and Derek on the subject, so I'll just quote it here.

Quote from: Myself
Alec and Derek,

So, I couldn't wait until mid-February to buy myself Aquaria for my birthday, so I bought it mid-December instead and just finished it today. I have three words for you:

Ho. Ly. Crap.

Aquaria is a fantastic game. I've already been spreading the word to my friends and co-workers, especially those that I know have more discriminating tastes than the average gamer that only likes first-person-shoot-everything-that-moves games. (You know, the ones that you can play with just your brain stem.)

I really love that you guys weren't afraid to make a great 2D game in a world that's gone all polygons on us, and that you took the time to make it abso-freakin'-lutely gorgeous in every way. I also appreciate that the game has a great story and isn't overflowing with sex and violence like many of today's games. (It dismays me to go to my local Wal-Mart and see that two-thirds of the games are rated M. Why do people seem convinced that a game has to be hyper-violent or loaded with sex to be good?)

Most of all, I love that you guys made a game that dared to be a bit different, and that you made it with your brains, hands and hearts. It's that kind of craftsmanship that is missing in most modern game development.

Usually if I want a game, I just put it on my Amazon wish list and let someone buy it for me. I hadn't spent my own money on a game in several years. I guess that with a mortgage and other bills to pay, I find it hard to justify spending a whole lot on games. So I hope it will please you to know that I feel it almost a privilege to support Aquaria. Amazing work, you guys. Hope to see more like this from you in the future.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Walker

Yeah, I also was astonished by the ending, also having heard that there would be no next part somewhere so I was kinda supprized, I won't ask when the next game is going to be completed. I just actually want to ask if this game will be made at all.
That would be awesome news if confirmed.
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

This game trully reminds me of a game I've played once, and fought my ass off to find it and buy it. Game name: Heart of Darkness, with similar principles. No in-game GUI, just gameplay. Tons of puzzles to solve and many more. If you liked Aquaria then you'll like this one as well ;)

Peace ;)

I know *I* explored a whole lot more because I got stuck - never thought of what to do with Li when I first cornered him.  If that hadn't happened, I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten the full ending the first time through.

I got the true ending because I was obsessed with this game.  Simple answer to a simple question.

This...game...ROCKS!

You don't have to be really obsessed, you find the first two memories with relative ease. After that putting two and two, you could come to the forums for help for the 3rd memory. I think the  majority of the people who did finish the game found all hidden memories.

I found them by themselfs and by exploring, I think  I have every part whited out in the map, besides the Veil. /so it was hard to miss that.

Yeah, I think a compulsion to explore is a pretty universal attribute among those who appreciate the game :) To turn all J. Blow on you, the simple fact that places you've explored turn white is a powerful way to convince you to explore it - 'natural rewards' and all :P.

Yeah. Played the demo and I remember this clearly. Is the story quite familiar with the one from Aquaria? All I know the boy's dog got kidnapped by a strange being/creature/god(?) into another dimension and he uses his own ubber-stuff to go, following him/it to rescue his puppy. Heart of Darkness had nice graphics and was a climatic game, though  :)

I have to say, that with all I got from this, I can agree with it being similiar to Aquaria in some cases.
Hail to the mighty 2d action-side scrolling-adventure-exploration based games  :D

I have just finished the game and I can say that is Awesome!!!!!!!But I'm disappointed of that - I can't continue after the ending! It could be great if you can go back in aquaria and just explorind and collecting things!Without bosses - only exploring!  :'(
