Reversion to Normal from Beast Form...an issue

Well this has been bothering me plenty since I first got Beast form but I loved the form too much to complain until now.  When attempting to revert to normal form you must click both mouse buttons but this triggers a "shot", if you have one.  Now I don't like to waste ammo willy-nilly especially when I'm just trying to change form.  I dunno how one would fix the problem, but it's annoying to take the effort to swallow a pistol shrimp just to waste a cannon shot on form changing.

Also don't tell me to just use keyboard shortcuts because I like to just use the mouse.

I don't mind wasting a shot, but what I have severe problems with is left-and-right click to get out of beast form when you ate a pistol shrimp.

The shot blows you back so hard and fast that 90 percent of the time, for me, it doesn't revert me to normal form because Naija's knocked clear of the cursor.

Yeah, beast form's right click action seems to be handled differently than the others. It's also the only one that happens when right-clicking over a shiny.
When right-clicking an ancient turtle, for instance, Naija's sing menu won't come up, energy form won't shoot a spark, nature form won't plant a seed. But beast form, the only form whose shot depletes,  will fire a shot. This isn't really an issue if you use keyboard commands, because you can just hit the key you have bound to 'revert' and beast-form won't shoot. But if you're playing with mouse only it can be a  huge pain.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's annoying.  I like to play with mouse alone, dunno why I just do.  I use keyboard shortcuts for bosses and hard mini-bosses but that's about it.  I prefer to relax and one-hand it.

I play the same way.  I appreciated the smooth and simple control of the mouse-only scheme so much that I try to use it whenever possible.  Part of it's just that I appreciate the technical aspect that went into it and ensuring that the entire game could be played that way, almost like "they made this for me to use".  However it's also got a relaxing, fluid feel to it that meshes well with the rest of the game.  Gently guiding my path by smoothly moving the mouse as I swim just feels more proper than keyboard control.

I could manage pretty much the whole game in mouse-only except for the final gauntlet before the last boss if it didn't really confuse me to hold and release and tap the left and right mouse buttons in various combinations during intense Energy Form segments.  I get mixed up.

Hotkeying the different Forms almost feels like cheating, too...

Haha, that's exactly how I feel about the shortcuts...cheaty.  But some of the later bosses are just impossibly difficult without them.  Notably the King Jelly.

My brother told me later on that I can just switch with 1-8.
I was about to bite into my keyboard, since I almost freaked out at the sun temple boss .

Well I know it can be done.  I beat King Jelly my first time with mouse only.  And I wasted almost all my food doing it.  Once I discovered the best strategy though, it made the first attempt look like a boy stumbling to walk after major knee surgery (a bit of backstory, my sister is getting knee surgery).

I never did figure out how to sing with the keyboard.  How do you manage that?

The top-row number keys let you switch instantaneously between forms.  I don't know which is which, though.
