(spoilers) Are those predatory tunicates killable?
« on: December 17, 2007, 10:47:16 pm »
Has anybody managed to kill those predatory tunicates? I'm glad the bug regarding those and the briars was fixed, but whatever I do doesn't seem to hurt them. I've tried energy blasts (it does work as far as getting out though), poison in fish form, and those briars. I would just like to be able to get them out of the way.

yea, they are only found in really deep waters, and are a few inches long in real life.

They look exactly the way they do in the game though.

Wow, I thought they were just totally made up enemies. Awesome!

No, I do not believe they are, or are supposed to be, killable.

Most of the creatures in the game are real creatures or based off of real creatures. The only ones completely made up are the bosses (unlesss you want  to consider the sun god a variant on nudibranchs) and some of the enemies.

Aren't the shrimp that have big recoils when they fire loosely based on real-life pistol shrimp ?

Well not all of the things that shoot at you are made up. For example, the Sea Dragon is based on the Leafy Sea Dragon (a relative of Sea Horses) with more dragon-like characteristics, the Jellyfish that shoot stuff at you are probably based off of some deep sea jellyfish (which don't shoot energy blasts in rl), and the wierd things that shoot spines at you are based off of sea urchins.

Those blaster crabs (and a similar creature in the Cathendral) are definetly made up as they look more like some fighter ship than anything.

Anyways, MOST things ingame are based off of real creatures.

The bubble cave boss looks amazingly similar to a crab you can see on one of the last pages of the (Weird) Underwater Creatures (Über)-Thread.

When I said bosses, I meant the major bosses, that is, those so called 'gods'.

Nearly all of the mnibosses (except for those eyeball things in the cathendral) are based on real creatures.

thats not the predatory tunicate, but I see your point.

Speaking of that hyper-lobster boss guy, I think the last health egg I have to get is behind that guy as my health bar is almost full circle and I think it would be a good idea to get the full health before taking on that golem boss, which I think I need to defeat to proceed to the last unexplored area.

And no, you can't kill them.

I couldn't help finding it hilarious when Li gets caught by them and they start throwing him about the place!
