Two things I want before I buy it
« on: December 17, 2007, 05:14:24 pm »
I played the demo, this seems to be a very good game. But I have two very major gripes.

First, I'm running a wide screen (mac book pro, leopard, bootcamp, vista) and due to 1400x900 resolution the game looks kinda not so good as it could. I 'm pretty certain that adding a resolution is *not* that complicated, if you just scale and don't use different sprites (if you did that, I would be quite impressed).

But second: Since the order form does not allow me to use öäü (why exactly? Shouldn't html/java/whatever you are using support unicode by default?), I cannot use my credit card since my billing address includes two ü's... You could also just remove the address check (I did not exactly try, but I assume you are checking, because you explicitly state "as billing address for CC" in the text), like amazon for example.

Kind of annoying to not be able to buy a game because the company does not want my money. And yes, I have the exact same problem with steam too...

It may be different now, but when I bougth it I used the name "Kämper" and both buying, downloading and activation worked just fine.
Only that ingame my name is displayed as "Kmper" but I seriously couldn't care less :p

Lots of people with umlauts etc are buying the game.

We had trouble with a few people trying to unlock the game, but we know how to fix it now.

Ok, I ordered. Let's see if this works, I'm still very sceptical. I have a complicated address (lots of weird signs) in Europe but am currently in Asia and cannot be reached by phone ;)

Now where's my 1440 x 900?

Oh, I've seen that. But i prefer to play in non-native 4:3 rather than in stretched 16:10. Nothing worse than stretching things, it just looks awful. Then I'd rather have some pixelation. I played games on 320 x 200, low res isn't all that bad. Probably will be using windowed mode... But cripspy unstretched wide screen would be nice.

Actually I disklike wide screens, but notebooks nowadays always come with them. My desktop is a 5:4 and I often turn it 90° to 4:5, for reading pdfs. What idiot invented 16:10/9 anyway??

So, what I suspected happened. Since my address is written slightly different on my bills than I usually write it (my CC Company fails at accepting "/" as a valid character for housenumber/flatnumber separation) and I do not know exactly HOW they write it and I'm 10'000 km from home to check, I cannot order it. String comparisons screw me over royally.

I know that CC fraud is a problem, but it really gets annoying the third time my card is rejected due to having unusual characters in the data when I can use it just fine offline.

Please re-submit your order with all the correct and relevant information.

Yeah, right, I'm now going to submit this order again and again until I get it right by chance... As with Bioshock: If pirating is easier than buying, then you're quickly losing money.

I used that account last more than 4 years ago. I'm not even sure I still have that e-mail... And paypal also wants identification for new accounts, so that's not going to happen before I return home.

Yes, I am a difficult customer. Also, by the way: I really don't like giving out so much information about myself just to purchase a piece of software. That's like getting my passport copied when I go shopping for groceries. You (the company) don't need to know that.

I now reordered and added my japanese cell phone. Lets see how that works out.

For one person, you sure presume to think you are owed a lot.

You probably already did, but for future reference, you should have written your prescious umlauts the old school way: ue ae oe.

Works for most everyone else.

About the widescreen, it's getting worked on, until then you're royal unimportantness can play it windowed, and be glad that your monitor supports the wave of the future.

As for methods of ordering, I think more than enough are provided to accomodate most everyone.

Yeah, really, who am I to want to be able to pay for the thing? Accept my sincere apologies for wanting to pay instead of torrenting it.

You know, there's a saying in german: "Der Kunde ist König". means: The customer is king. I can easily name dozens of software/music companies who really fail at this, and guess whose work gets pirated most?

Widescreen? There is one widescreen resolution, adding a second one shouldn't be that bad. And yes, I can wait for that. A bit. Think like this: Would you buy a game in a store if it would not support your native resolution? I definitely would not. Would you buy a game in a store if the cashier refused your money ("it's dirty!")? I wouldn't. What is different online?

You already did torrent it, as referenced by your above post. So don't try that high and mighty crap here. You did torrent it and then flaunted it in all of our faces. What your some kind of hero for buying the game?

The saying exist here too, doesn't mean it's a good thing. (I don't speak for bit blot)

I was not attacking your wants, just the manner in which you asked for them.
