Weird Underwater Creatures
« on: January 31, 2007, 03:26:18 pm »
Post all your weird/awesome underwater creature pics and info here!

I'll start with this prehistoric shark that was discovered recently near Japan:

Quote
Flaring the gills that give the species its name, a frilled shark swims at Japan's Awashima Marine Park on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Sightings of living frilled sharks are rare, because the fish generally remain thousands of feet beneath the water's surface.

Video of the shark in action!  Unfortunately it died shortly only hours after it arrived at the park. :'(

I think now might be a good time to tell you I have a pretty huge phobia of underwater creatures.  And if I ever saw one of those things up close, I'd probably have a heart attack.
...  I actually gave up playing when BMcC began beating me at my games. It kinda took all the fun out of it by having the snot kicked out of you by a 4 year old.  ...

Ditto on the underwater animal phobia--- but more towards whales.  Their rubbery skin, massive size-- creepy!

"HAI GUYS!"

That's frightening as all hell.

Mantis Shrimp FTW, though:

I'll see your Mantis Shrimp and raise you three Isopods:

Here's a cute little Isopoda Phreatoicidea:

An endearing tongue eating/replacing Isopod:

And an always-lovely facecrab:

This thread is awesome.

My measly contribution (I couldn't find pictures of the species with teeth larger then their head)
