*SPOILERS* Giant Jellyfish Help Please.
« on: December 10, 2007, 03:40:24 am »
I am so lost, I have fought and fought this thing, and since I haven't had any problems at all with any of the other bosses, I wonder what I am doing wrong.

I have energy form (duh), beast, sun, and fish form. I only have the first pet.  So any tips would be appreciated.

Edit: Obviously this is in the Abyss.

There's just the rotating weak point where it's not covered at the eye (though I'm certain you've already noticed this) that you have to hit; there's nothing special to it so much as "SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT AAAARGH HEAL SPAM HEAL SPAM CAKE"

I consumed about 15-30 points of healing beating him, but the reward for beating him is definitely worth it; with it I beat the sun temple boss with only 1 point of actual eaten healing.

EDIT: It helps to have Li and a blaster crab pet, though.

So i went back and cooked up a bunch of stuff. (I had almost no food as I entered the Abyss.)

The reward is worth it, as is every second of playing this wonderful game. Bit-Blot, I will buy your next game, and the next and the next as long as you produce as you do here.

You can eat the little jellyfish in beast form. That helps make him from the hardest sideboss in the game into a joke. :o

Huh, these things respawn before I can even change back from Beast to Energy.

As the readme that came with it says, you can use your keyboard number keys to quick change to different forms, bypassing singing the songs over and over again. :p

This is true. But if you wanna be a real man, you know which one you have to use. ;)

Heh, I read that, but fiddled around like crazy with the numpad, with no effect >.<
Now, trying it, I realized I have to use the numbers, not the numpad, d'oh.
So, yeah, I somehow managed it to the last boss without using the quickchange feature. The boss in the Sunken City was a real pain in the butt without it, though.

A "real man" wouldn't waste time singing cutesy little songs.  ::)

I'll happily settle for fake manliness!

Damn you for not putting a savepoint near this guy! Either a big loop around or a trip out of a.. creature is needed every time I die :(.

I must just suck at this boss, either I concentrate on limiting his jellyfish spawns and keep charging into the lazers or I concentrate on blasting his eye and keep getting pushed into lazers by the spawns.

Ugh. He must die!

Hm. I wonder if you can beat him with just beast form? So long as you have Li and a blaster crab pet firing away at him, you can just focus on dodging the lasers and devouring the jellies for health. I don't think I have any old saves to check though.

When he has the beams going, switch to beast form and eat the jellies to regain health.

And if you have the Energy Peg pet, counter rotate around him to keep it inside the eye.
