Simple question.  Am I too blindly run around trying to avoid giant ghostly snakes (I think?), or am I missing some source of light?  I've seen the little creatures that act like lights, but can I utilize them?  The smallest clue would be appreciated, I'd rather have a revelation based on a hint then have someone outright tell me what I'm missing.  Thanks

You do need a source of light, however it won't be available for quite some time if you've only just left your home. Try to explore a different area if you haven't found any other significantly interesting places already.

Hrm, I've explored a bunch of areas.  Can you give a general direction?  I've been to Mithalis, The Kelp Forest, the Seahorse place...  I beat a Crab, the Mithalis Guardian, a Tree with a woman's face, the guy that gives you energy form...

Ahh, you're farther than I thought. You need to head up, then, past a current you couldn't get through before and toward The Veil. If you've already been there, search it more carefully for structures.

Doh...  Do you remember what color jewel corresponds to The Veil on the map?

I actually don't see a jewel for it on the map, uh... There's a blue and yellow one within the map, however those are for caves and structures.

Alec and Derek:  Just a slight suggestion.  I wish there was some way for me to see the names of areas after the initial visit.  Minor gripe, thanks for an amazing game (so far )

Whelp...  I can't find the damn thing...  I noticed some faces in a wall that laughed at me, but then I took the fish path there and I had already explored that area.  I'm up for any suggestions now.  Thanks in advance

Almost precisely between the gold jewel (your home) and a pink jewel (the city of Mathalas entrance I believe) is where the rushing current that you need to go through is.  You should be swimming along a long path upwards to reach the Veil from here.

Other than that, it's difficult to explain.  It's on the area about halfway between the home and city of mathalas, so just keep looking around.

(If you'd already found the Veil, sorry, it sounded as if you hadn't)

Not two minutes ago I found the Veil...  Hehe, totally missed that area.  So thanks, and hopefully I can figure it out now.

So I'm in the Veil, and I'm stuck again...  Li is following me everywhere, I found the Sun Temple (got stuck), I wall jumped up the long cave on the very right...  I gotta be missing something.  I'm thinking its the Sun Temple.  Am I supposed to spin a gear or something?

Yup.. there's a particular gear that isn't spinning (when it's idle) that you can rotate by spinning Naija in a circle by it.  This changes water level.  So, obviously there's a puzzle to solve with the water level...  which took me a while to figure out actually.
