If I buy the PC version do I have to buy the Mac version?

Just as the subject says. I have both platforms, I use Mac more often and would prefer that. I have already bought PC...

I haven't even played the game yet -- though I hope I don't have to pay for it twice.

You will almost certainly have to buy the Mac version separately.  That has been the policy of Ambrosia Software in the past, and is the way that most publishers roll.  I can't imagine that it is going to change in the future.
