Last night I had a dream...
« on: June 14, 2010, 04:00:07 am »
Truly off topic. ;3

... well first I couldn't fall asleep, but when I finally managed to, I had a dream that had Naija in it. It was weird. I'm pretty sure it didn't even take place underwater. Well anyway I was trying to visit her or something and then someone was stalking me and then I tripped and they shot me or something and I woke up. ^^;

Highly paraphrased because I don't really understand it myself. Maybe I should rename Naija to some human and turn it into a short story because it really didn't have anything to do with Aquaria. o.o

I think I might type up what I remember somewhere in case anyone wants to read it. There as a lot of betrayal in there, now that I think of it. o.o
EDIT: Nevermind, it was too weird and I'm turning red as I type it up. ._.

Anyone else had any weird dreams to share? ^///^

I gave up on turning my dreams into stories a while ago. It just doesn't work out.

I don't have any interesting dreams to share, but I did have a pretty crazy day on Friday. Not sure if it would be off topic to talk about it here.

It would have worked out if I had made a few minor tweaks. :3

I just wish I could stop having nightmares. ._.
EDIT: MAYBE it's a calling to go out and explore the ocean and kill stuff! D: Oh wait. That's Aquaria. Nevermind. >_<

I think crazy days and weird dreams are close enough for it to be not too far off topic. :3

Just don't start talking about Mundane  Mondays. That would be off topic.

I feel a bit impersonal saying this, but your dreams seem much more interesting compared to mine.  :)

As for my crazy day...

Well, basically two of my good friends ended up passing out while we were out at the park, and it was a pretty weird experience overall. I wrote more about it in my deviant art, but I don't want to post a link to it here, you'll have to pm me.

Note: most of what I've written there was ranting from me after I got back home.

I saw someone collapsing from heat exhaustion at school once. Someone else called a teacher who rushed over and as I ran away. That's the closest I've been to someone who has passed out.

It's pretty weird being with someone fazing in and out of conscience-ness.  Especially when you don't know if they're in control of themselves at the time or they're moving/speaking out of impulse.

Anyone else had any weird dreams to share?

Here's a few that I posted in another forum with a similar topic. The following dream is easily the most vivid I've ever had; strange color themes and extremely intense...

I was standing in a huge walk-in tiled shower. Dense steam hung in the air. The orange tiled shower felt claustrophobic despite it being the size of a small bedroom. My wife stood behind me, terrified that an intruder had entered the house. I found myself crawling towards the bedroom under the thick cloud of steam hovering above. My vision was hazy, but my surroundings felt familiar; as if I was in my home. From tiled floor to bedroom carpet, I made my way out of an open shower to an empty bedroom in hues of yellow. For some reason I couldn’t stand up though I knew I should; the steam above felt too thick. I looked around the room noticing the bedroom door to my left and nothing else; there was no furniture or anything other than an open shower archway behind me and the bedroom door. I looked back at the door and, to my shock, it was half open all of a sudden. It was completely closed when I looked at it but a second earlier. A spurt of anxiety coursed through my body. I knew something awful was happening, but I had to move toward the open door. A bright ivory light shone in the hallway; as if it was illuminated by an afternoon sun. I crawled halfway out of the bedroom when I felt an urge to look around to get my bearings. At that moment a pair of dark, shadowy legs, adorned in work boots and blue jeans, deliberately pressed against my side. I wanted desperately to get up, but before I could even act I felt a knife plunge into the small of my back repeatedly. It didn’t hurt; it simply felt like my back was giving no resistance to the obviously very shape blade. As I was being stabbed, all I could see were his legs beside me, below the haze of steam, motioning as he was killing me. I didn’t fall. I didn’t even move. I just knew that I was going to die and in that instant I gave up. Then he stopped and began to move past me towards my wife in the shower… and that’s when I woke up.

...this next one was when I was very sick and incredibly sleep deprived. I was tossing and turning all night...

I was sitting in front of my computer upstairs, absolutely exhausted. I remember closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep at the desk. I immediately began to dream that I was downstairs in my home, my grandmother just walked around the corner… and then, for some odd reason, I realized that I was dreaming. I mean, I had just fallen asleep. I *knew* I was dreaming. I’ve only ever taken control of a dream a handful of times in my life so I absolutely had to make this one count. You can imagine what that entailed. ;) To make sure that I really had control, I willed myself to levitate... and sure enough I was floating a few feet above the ground. Just then my grandmother walked back into view from around the corner. Needless to say, my next plans for the dream didn’t involve my grandmother. As I thought that, she changed into my mother. At this point I became a little frustrated. All I wanted to do was "blink" myself a cute girl and mess around. Amused with that exact notion I made a conscious effort to blink my mother away… and then everything was black for an uncomfortable amount of time. I remember a wave of disappointment come over me as a felt like I was beginning to wake. My eyes slowly opened as I gathered my surroundings… I was slumped over in my chair, in front of the computer. "Ah shit," I thought to myself. And then I awoke... again. However, I was in my bed and really awake... for really real.

...dreaming about dreaming; how meta. This last one is a dream that I've had twice in my life. The second time it happened, the déjà vu was overwhelming. I don't even know if you can call it a dream because it was completely auditory...

I fell asleep one day in the living room on an extended recliner. Shortly after I drifted off, maybe ten minutes or so (before I even started to  have any mental visual images), I had the feeling of a grand sound building; as if an entire symphony was gearing up for something. The build created a melodic tension that exploded to a single, calculated, intense, nearly ear piercing note (as if all the instruments had blasted at once)… and quieted almost instantly after it achieved its climax. The sound was so loud (in my head) that it woke me up instantly. My eyes shot open and I was VERY alert… it took a few seconds for me to realize that I could relax and that it was all in my head.

...it's honestly been a very long time since I've remembered a dream of any significance. Perhaps I should keep a dream diary by my bed or something. I miss not recalling any of my dreams now that I've reminisced a bit. Once you begin to document your dreams and make real conscious efforts to remember them, you begin to recall them better. Like anything, it takes practice and an honest effort. Anyway, I'd love to read about other dreams from our community. Great topic, Lady-Succubus.

Also, I really envy people who can lucid dream and stay in control. It's like having your own private holodeck. ;)

Indeed. I know someone who learned how to control her dreams from an early age, now she never has nightmares. You've inspired me to make an effort to remember one of my own dreams, so I think I'll do that. Can't really count for today though, I dreamt about complete nonsense.

Once I fell asleep with a locked iPod (with the headphones in my ears) in my hand and I jolted awake to the noise of my iPod at full volume. o.o

Either I somehow unlocked my iPod and turned the volume all the way up or the person sitting next to me on the bus was playing a prank on me.

It was weird. xD

I used to have nightmares all the time when I was a little boy. I always used to know when I were about to fall asleep and have a nightmare. I'd see this dot in the distant when having my eyes closed that would approach instantly when the nightmare would start, I would also hear a high pitched beep in my ears as if something just exploded next to your ear, which too would become louder and inevitably start the nightmare.

After that I usually had nightmares of giants tracking me down, hearing their footsteps come closer while they step faster, finally they find me and usually kill me in the most gruesome ways. After I explained this dream to my mom I was taught that the footsteps was simply my heartbeat that raced up as soon as the footsteps came closer, I never had a dream like this ever again afterwards. Not only that, I never heard the beep again nor saw the dot.

This wasn't the only kind of nightmares I had, I also used to have the kind of nightmares where my house would shrink or where my mom would take me for a drive and we would just drive into some river, pond, lake or something and I'd drown. Also having zombie invasions in my house where I'd usually kick them down stairs until they came from the attic and I'd die, or those dreams that you look out from your window at the garden and you suddenly see someone entering your garden by opening the gate, grabbing the nearest rock and then start ramming against the windows, inevitably entering your house and slaughtering your family members one by one and leaving you until last. Or this whack dream where I was on this alien wanted list and I was left behind by my family and had to run for my life. Oh and that in every dream I could never speak or shout, very frustrating.

But from the moment my mom told me everything was a dream I kept having lucid dreams , being around the age of 10 you can think up some pretty whack dreams. I dreamed being a Power Ranger, being able to fly, playing on Super Mario 64 levels, being Spider-Man. That was awesome.

Then I came into a depression thanks to school and whatnot more and I barely even dream or remember my dreams nowadays. When I do dream I usually wake up the moment I notice it's a dream. I still have some pretty whack dreams sometimes though.

It's finals time around at my place. Although I'm not having it now, last semester I had dreams where I either was late for the final, or so unrested that I couldn't understand any of the questions (and also rushed for time). I haven't had it now for some reason, even though I should be worried. Right now I'm happily replying on the forums and updating Ubuntu (70 MB of updates in 8 days...). And I just crushed a spider, which is now bleeding on my wall.

Ditto. Although I'm not really depressed, I just seem to worry less about what happens in my dreams, and as a result my dreams are less worrying. Although maybe this is because I started worrying more about what happens in real life.

Dreams with material are usually pretty interesting regardless of whether they are good or bad. I've had those "everything you know is a lie" dreams a lot. For some reason, I've never had dreams about family members dieing/getting murdered in front of me. It's usually me they're after. And the weird thing is, sometimes I'd get shot or stabbed or something but all I think is "oh damn, I've been shot" because I would be aware that the dream isn't over yet, and I just continue on my way.

A vivid dream I remember having as a child was a giant George Washington and Abraham Lincoln terrorizing my Ukrainian hometown (Kiev) Godzilla-style.

Every time I was about to go on a field trip back in elementary school I would always have the exact same dream: I'm late for school and I missed the field trip and I'm sad as my parents are driving me home from something. Oddly, that stretch of the way I dreamed of wasn't on the way from home to school...

I'm weird. :3

Heh, forgot to tell that from the moment on I was able to dream lucid I wasn't able to be killed, however when I wanted to wake up from a dream I usually had to jump from something high, like off some stairs or a high swing-set. Or I just had to close and open my eyes slowly. I even had a dream once that I was surrounded by police and they started shooting, I only felt tingling over my body, but later on I just flew away again. xD
