2007.12.07 Full Version Patch - Fixes Start Problem
« on: December 08, 2007, 03:55:56 am »
I just installed the game which went through just fine started the game up once and found it kinda dark so I exited and checked the config file to see if the buffer was the cause. I started up the game again and i can't get in it keeps giving me a "Error: Access Violation at 0x011bb51 (tried to write to 0x4DBAC10), program terminated" Error. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice and keep getting the same error. any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

ALEC: "Here is the fix: http://bit-blot.com/files/aquaria_full_patch.zip Thanks guys!"

To use this patch, extract "aquaria.exe" and overwrite the old "c:\program files\aquaria\aquaria.exe". (note: if you installed the game to another directory, the path will be different)

I get the same error. Except mine's saying 0x0120BB51 and 0x4D93AC10. Or 0x4DBAC10, it changes. I haven't tried reinstalling. But I uh... restarted my laptop. I hope it's something that can be fixed with a little fiddling of the config file or something :s

Add me to this list. Any help appreciated. Same message, don't know the specifics of the numbers, but same general message.

I'm on a widescreen monitor, given it only supports 4:3, is that the issue. I'm, quite frankly, not the most PC literate person in the world, to say the least.

Same here. 16:10 Laptop screen. I don't think that's the issue though. I tried switching to 800*600 resolution, no joy.

The aqconfig works.

Same here. I was watching the intro and there was this weird bar across the bottom of the screen. So I exited to see if I could change the resolution, and when I tried to open it back up, I got that same error message.

nVidia gForce 6800 with latest drivers.
Running 1024x768

Full Version of Aquaria

I've also seemingly run into this problem.

First startup: Enter my registration key, activation is successful, game starts. I skipped the intro and quit out. I'm on a 16:10 display so I was going to change my display scaling to stop stretching beautiful, beautiful Aquaria.

Subsequent attempts to run the game result in similar exception errors.

System details:

Windows XP SP2
Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4400+
2 gigs of RAM
Geforce 8800GT (Latest Nvidia drivers - WHQL certified, released Oct 31, version 169.02)

Things I've tried:

-Setting native resolution to 800x600 and running the game.
-Uninstalling/reinstalling (manually deleting the folder after uninstall).
-Turning off all graphics options in AQConfig.

I'm poking around with other options.

Also the debug.log (which I deleted, doh) ends on the line about opening/initializing Graphics Libraries.

DSQ init
Mipmaps Enabled
DeveloperKeys Disabled
VoiceOvers Enabled
Init Graphics Library...

Thats my debug log.  Windowed mode gives same error.

I deleted the original debug log along with the config file after the 1st error (i knwo...stupid).  The new debug log doesnt get any larger no matter how many times i launch.

If you CTRL+ALT+DEL is there another process of aquaria running?

What I'm thinking is when you quit the first one maybe it didn't shut down properly.

My debug.log also ends with "Init Graphics Library..."

In your posts I see a glimmer of cause for of hope - if it can begin working then get broken, perhaps the reverse is possible!

I'm using Windows XP Home edition service pack 2. I've tried a few different resolutions and window combinations.
I'll see if I can get any new drivers for my rubbish built-in ATI laptop graphics cog.
