Thinking about buying the game, but wondering how
« on: March 21, 2010, 06:51:50 am »
Well, I tried the game, and I was very pleased by how nice it was. I'm really thinking about getting it, but it's not that easy. Would be easier if I was on my own, but not so easy, since I'm still a teen.

In past experiences, I had to ask mom and dad if I can buy it, they check if it's OK, if it is, I give dad enough money so he puts it in the bank (we use a debit card not a credit card), he (sometimes mom) orders it off the internet for me, I download it, install it and play, and the money is taken out of the bank, and the game is paid for.

Now, dad also suggested something else. If I remember correctly, it's called a pre-paid visa card. I was wondering, can I pay for the game using a pre-paid visa card?

I know for a fact that you can use a debit card to make credit card purchases provided your bank permits it, but I know not all banks do for all of their proposed debit cards. You could always ask at the bank, or your father can do it, but if he's suggesting it, I assume he already has.

Oh, that's good. I'm also talking about the kind you can get from a store. Just to double check, that also can work, right?

From what experience I have with pre-paid credit cards, they are used just as a regular credit card would be. Provided there is enough money on the card, you should just have to enter the card number at purchase (as you would a credit card). There's no reason why this wouldn't work with Steam/Plimus/Ambrosia, since vendors just take it as a credit card, so you should be good :)

When you buy those cards, just beware that you do pay like an 11% or so activation fee-- it's not much but just a head's up!
Also, be sure to keep the card if for any reason you need a refund :)

Ouch, really? Around here it only costs 20 NIS (about $6) and it can be filled with anything between 400 to 1000 NIS (about $100-250)
I guess that makes me lucky then :)

But as I clearly (maybe too clearly?) stated in my previous post, yes, you can use pre-paid credit cards.

Sounds easy enough. Ok then! I might try that to get the game.
