How Install Mods
« on: September 07, 2009, 12:37:26 am »
I saw in AquariaWiki, in the foruns and tryed install a mod only dowload it, and dragging it to the _mods folder, but I started the Aquaria and nothing happened. I tryed with BIG ENERGY BATTLE, BEAUTY OF AQUARIA an NATIVE.  (Aquaria 1.1.0 registered on a Mac OS 10.5.7)

Help D:

Couple guesses:

Are you clicking the "mods" button at the main menu?

Are you putting things correctly into _mods? Most mods will unpack into a folder, which contains an xml file and another folder. Both of these need to go directly in _mods, not in a subfolder within _mods.

Sorry if these sound trivial, but it's the best I can do based on the information you gave.

There has been said somewhere how to install mods on the Mac.
I'm not sure how it exactly was, but I remember the faint bit of that someone (probably Alec) said that you have to place the mods in the _mods folder that's NOT some sort of backup.
I'm not sure at all, I'd recommend using search. "mods" "mac" "install"?
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

Yeah, ideally mods would come in their own file format, .aqmod or something, and you could just double click to install, but as it is you have to move the .xml file and it's accompanying folder into /Users/YOURNAMEHERE/Library/Application Support/Aquaria/_mods.

I know this thread is more than a month old, but I did drag the unpacked mods into the _mods folder, not into any folders within _mods.
I started aquaria after that, and nothing happened.  Anyone want to help me out?

Did you drag it into the right _MODS folder?
There's stated in the topic that there are two.

I think that you are looking in Aquaria's package contents instead of your Application Support folder
The right _mods folder is in:
/Users/YOURNAMEHERE/Library/Application Support/Aquaria/_mods
After unstuffing the mod, open the folder, and there should be another folder and a .xml file inside. Put those both directly into the above _mods folder.

Thanks for this thread, I just hit this problem myself. Naturally, I was looking in the wrong folder.
