Aquaria for moble phones
« on: September 05, 2009, 11:27:12 pm »
Hello, dear Bit-Blot! Recently I've received a great idea- Aquaria for the mobile phones. Some people, who like Aquaria  very much, guess-  whether will let out Bit-Blot this game also on mobile phones? I want to know your opinion about this.
P.S. If in my letter are some spilling errors, please, don't think anything bad about me- I'm from Ukraine, and English isn't my native language.

Games for mobile phones are notoriously difficult to develop... (multiple hardware platforms, weak performance, etc)

If a trustworthy company wanted to make a licensed Aquaria spin-off, I'd be interested in looking into it - but only if they had a really good reputation.

I heard about magic programm- MoMinis Studio. In this programm, game for mobile phone can make even a beginner in programming. If you become interested in this, I'll send you an adress to download this programm from official website.

The problem isn't that making a mobile version of Aquaria would be too difficult for Alec, but rather that making a mobile phone version of Aquaria would be difficult enough to keep it from being profitable. Even with the proper tools, moving a game from PCs to phones would take a lot of work.
Additionally, porting games isn't where the joy of game development comes from; I'm sure that porting games can actually get pretty boring.

Also the fact that mobile phones would be a lot weaker than the average computer. You might have to almost make a whole new game that sort of resembles Aquaria to keep the processing down.

Your best bet would be the infamous "you-know-what-letter" phone. Aquaria has already been ported to a very similar platform, so that shouldn't be to much of a problem. Though I still doubt it will have the same immersive gameplay as when playing it on a 20'' screen.
