The order in the game's songs

Since no actual OST has been released yet, I would like to know if you had already thought about an 'official' order in which the musics (those of the 'mus' directory) should be listened, as in the game directory, they're in alphabetical order, and as usually, the songs of an OST are in the order in which they're discovered all along the game. If not, I think it'd be a good idea just to decide of an order. This may seem pointless however I care about this kind of stuff.
For instance, I wonder where the musics of the Forest should be, before or after those of Mithala ? (Since those two parts of the game can be done in whatever order the player wants)
I ask this because I'm currently trying to add Aquaria musics to my other OSTs, and that I'd like to have all well ordered.

Yes, Alec has come up with an order. The songs follow the order in which an average player would hear the songs. And on the unofficial soundtrack listing, Forest songs come after Mithala songs.

I have wondered the same, but I found myself as an average player, so I can somehow imagine the order of the music tracks. Although I'm quite  confused by Jukebox-mod    (which uses alphabetical order). I think too that the order is very important for maximum musical experience, as music should follow the story... aka OST.

It is not posted... I, uh, have sources.
I'll ask Alec if it's okay for me to post the "unofficial OST song order," but some of the songs on my list may not be in the game. I'm not sure how many he added? In either case I'm sure he won't mind but I'm going to check just to be sure then get back to you.

There's at least 1 non-in-game song in the /mus folder (Quit your jibba jabba and get in the water!).
I put up an unofficial version, which has looping and song numbering (and was also needlessly converted to .mp3, but nevermind that), but still don't know what Alec feels about that sort of thing. There was talk about making a proper OST, long ago.

Alright, I got the go-ahead... if the titles are different in the directory, then I don't know what I can do for you. It basically follows the storyline of:
early exploration,  home cave,  song cave, energy temple,  Mithalas stuff, Forest stuff, the Veil, Li,  Sun temple stuff,  stuff heading to the abyss, the abyss, the Ice Veil, Sunken City stuff, the Body and endboss stuff, epilogue and credit stuff.
I have to say that I enjoy listening to the tracks in order as well. It lets me revisit my experience with the game in my head. I hope you get the same enjoyment

Except family matters... Thank you for the list! It's a little bit different what I imagined, I guess main branches are Kelp Forest/Mithalas and Sunkencity/Icy water place (Abyss is a fine example to me, as there are, like, dozens of ways leading to more obvious directions... I  totally forgot to investigate the right rear of the Abyss, meaning that Icy Waters was the last place I visited).

Some of the tracks names are unfamiliar to me (without further familiarizing), although I doupt you included extra secret bonus tracks there "accidentally"...

Weren't there some changes in the songs names? And for instance, hasn't 'worship' been splitted? (There is 5 tracks called worshipX.ogg in the 'mus' dir, corresponding to the 5 shapes of the final boss)

Some tracks got named differently on the CD than what their filenames were in the game.
