Please help, I'm stuck in whale, I have the pearl now what?

Ok, so I figured out the lamp thing in the belly of the whale and I was able to get the pearl out. I used the bind spell and lugged it out of the whale, but I've no idea where to take it. I changed into my fish form and found the secret path to those two comical looking fish staring at the white orbs but I can't get anywhere with them. I tried many things, tried to bring the pearl I retrieved from the whale but nothing is happening. I'm feeling a tad frustrated.
I can't get past the steam, so I have no where else to go. What am I missing? I have my spirit form already and I tried to get past the steam vent but no go for some reason.

Any help would be most appreciated.  I love this game, but hate getting stuck.

There should be a wide area in the same map as the whale: after tiptoeing past or killing the angler fish, swim to the roof of the elliptical chamber. There you will find a short tunnel that ends in a pearl-activated door. You know what to do from there.  Also, why were you stuck by the steam? Do you know exactly where the vents were? You already made it past the steam blockades in front of the whale, and I don't know of any impassable barriers.

When you use spirit form to get past the steam, you automatically take the pearl with you, if you still have it bounded that is.

Also, how can you not get past the steam vent, there is a blue crystal somewhere in the darkness that is slightly lit.

If you're stuck in the whale cave, the blue crystal to get back out can be hard to find. If I recall correctly it's on the top of the cave, just past the edge of the screen. Try lighting the place up with Sun form and using the 'look' function to find the crystal before switching to Spirit form. Remember that it doesn't hurt anything that I know of to get forced out of Spirit by exploring too far, so don't worry about that.

I think the look button is the middle button? I forget, sorry.
