Well I don't see the point, but if they say yes then it's up to the players. Myself (if I felt like trying a speedrun, which I don't) I will do it in my slow and steady explorer fashion :D

You can at least trim Mithalas out of your speed run. As far as I can tell Beast isn't required for anything, you don't need it to get Sun form.

The only way to get to the veil/sun temple without Beast Form is with Ekkrit bumping you there. Not very speedy, though. ;)

Haha sounds very speedy.  This thread was started out of an academic interest (and maybe potential for a speed run at a later date).  While I agree with you that using the very abusable 1.0.0 version isn't necessarily the truest to the spirit or intent of the game, speed-running is about one thing, speed (within certain ethical guidelines).  Yes skipping all of the Sunken City for example is not-so-cool from a gameplay perspective but the whole point of running is to complete as fast as possible.  I'm sure anyone who would even consider attempting a run has spent many hours exploring every nook and cranny, but a speed run is different.  Unlike normal gameplay, barring out and out cheating, a speed run is not a state function; how you get there doesn't matter.  Speed does. (And come on, a dark abyss run should totally make up for skipping sunken city in terms of net awesomeness of the final product  ;))

As was pointed out earlier though Form 5 requires sun-form so the path for this particular low-% run has already been proved impossible.

It's a hell of a lot faster than getting beast form! :)

Is it possible to either briar-rocket or penis-missile in?

I thought you had to be in the air to do that...

Nah it's doable under water but it's not quite as fast/dramatic. I just wonder if you can beat the Veil currents with it.

That would take some aiming because where are you going to place the stone so it's close enough and in direct line of the current?

Dunno, I'm sure there's an outcropping somewhere to start it off of.  The ability to go up-current is the limiting factor here

and the phalus rocket might run out of steam before it got to the current, or not have enough strength left?

About speed runs:  If you think this is exploitative, check out some tool-assisted speedruns, where they play games fram by frame.  Who would have known that you can technically wall-jump in Super Mario Brothers 1? :o Some people really dislike the more "cheaty" speed runs, but I find them entertaining in their own ways.

Anyway, since it looks like you have to get Sun Form, could you rocket up to the roof of the Sun Worm dome and go straight to the boss fight through there, or is that the part of the Veil without any rocks to rocket with?  Can't wait to see how this turns out, if you end up doing it!

It works. You can get Veil early with briar missile.  See new topic

Edited.

Please refrain from saying that in the open, even IF it's not such a foul word, briar rocketing works just fine.
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

I'm afraid that's the one place in the Veil without rocks - seems as though Alec, knowing that someone would discover the cheat, decided to discourage it. (probably because of the hidden memory at the top of the Veil.)
