Okay. Simon Says.  Optional boss, of course... beatable, of course... the thing is, even if I can do the notes, I can't do them quick enough for its liking once it gets to the higher amount of notes... and in 40 minutes of trying, I only got to the "move the visuals around" thing TWICE, in dozens of tries.  Is there anything I can do to do this? Letting us use the number pad for songs would really REALLY help. btw, I have the steam version... anyone have any suggestions?

edit: uh, should this be in general or gameplay?

I was using a gamepad initially, but it was too inaccurate, kept slipping and hitting the wrong notes. After switching to mouse it worked fine first try...

Well, I noticed myself that sometimes I'm bad at these games and sometimes I'm good at them. I've had it that I did it 5 times straight after each other and other times that I failed 20 times before getting it.

Either way, use a mouse, get in the middle of Simon, only sing when he's done.

If that's all not working you could just send me a mail with your savegame and I'll do it. The save game is in the folder 'save' which is in your Aquaria directory. I have to mention though that the save games ingame start counting with 1 and in the folder they start counting with 0. So if you have saved on position number 8 in the game, you need to send the files 'screen-0007.zga' and 'save-0007.aqs'.

Be sure to save near the Sea horse's save point so I don't have to travel a lot. =p

I sometimes find that placing Naija in the middle of Simon Says blocks his flashing bulbs; however, the rest of your advice still stands.

Generally, concentrate on the shape rather than the position of the notes - it helps one remember the series as a whole. Also, don't be afraid to restart if the pattern is difficult to remember.

BTW, this topic goes in gameplay.

once I got good at memorizing the pattern the next struggle was being quick and co-ordinated enough so I wasn't berated with his roaring. Simon demands near perfection, he would approve of the Borg.

Well, I would like the steam achievement, for one thing.  and the switching hte colors around is, I think, when it plays the notes in the right sequence, but moves the colors around to try and trick you.  Also, is there any way to redo the same pattern over and over again until I get it right?

no if you botch up the sequence then erase it from your short term memory bank and start memorizing the new one. it's spilled milk and Simon dosn't like you crying

Get revenge on Simon. Replace his sound effect with something more like this. Of course that effect is re-used elsewhere, so maybe that's not optimal. ;)

I tried copying his notes tonight and even though it was an easy squence I still messed up after the 6th note :( I played the first one but didn't hear it so I tried it again and he roared at me :( I don't want to cry, I want to kick his butt!  >:D

Actually, 9 out of the 10 times that I failed I was at the 8th note. It's like my mind goes: "HOLD IT RIGHT THERE, EIGHT IS JUST WAY TOO DAMN MUCH, GO WRITE IT DOWN OR SOMETHING!"

Yea, it is really hard... I tried again a few times toda. *sighs* Being able to use the numpad for notes would help a LOT!
