Crayon Physics Deluxe
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:53:48 am »
Crayon Physics Deluxe, Aquaria's sucessor in winning the IGF-Grand Prize is out for a bit over two weeks now and if you haven't checked it out, then you definitely should!

I just bought it and am very curious to experience it and find the track Alec wrote for this game. :)

They did a "Seven days to Aquaria Crayon Physics Deluxe, providing a lot of neat background information about the game.

Crayon Physics Deluxe contains over 70 levels and an easy to use level editor.

Have fun! :)

You can download the demo here.

I've never understood what the big appeal is with CPD...  I got bored after the first level or few of the demo (yes, I did complete the entire demo) and it's just not that amazing...  World of Goo was horribly, horribly robbed.  WoG not only has better gameplay, it has better art and better music...  What's even more frustrating is that CPD got $20,000 for the grand prize when WoG won both design innovation and technical excellence for a sum total of $5,000...

Could someone please explain to me why CPD is so amazing?

Edit: No offense to Alec for making a track for CPD... Aquaria's soundtrack is great!

If the gameplay doesn't resonate with you, I don't blame you for it; however, World of Goo and Crayon Physics Deluxe are radically different games. Someone (the judges, you) who really enjoys one might not like the other (CPD, W'o'G). I agree that World of Goo is a much better game, but the judges thought otherwise. And what do you mean by no offense?  ???  ;)

I meant no offense as in... I don't mean to bash a game that someone on here has been a part of creating for it...

I guess I'm simply saying that I've played games that are similar to this... CPD didn't add anything to this genre... It's not innovative and it has been overhyped since they first put out the demo...  I'm not saying its that bad of a game...  I just figured I must've missed something if CPD won over goo (which is one of the greatest indie games I've played in the past several years...)  I wasn't sure if there was something more amazing that I was missing...

Oh and thanks for the welcome... I've been reading for a while... I figured I might as well post too...

Chibi he/she means that they don't mean to offend the makers it's just their point of view, and I must admit that I also can't get adicted to these games' I used to have one that my son reckomended but after playing with it a few times it started to bore the socks of me :(

I do like physics but I prefer to play with the more solid media than a computer mock up.

I recognized that - I was speaking rhetorically.
