Rare food syndrome? (Spoilers)
« on: December 19, 2008, 06:41:27 pm »
Yeah, so I just completed the game, and I just realized I had rare foods syndrome. Lol. I dunno if this happened to anyone else, but I found that, whenever I got super rare foods, I would save them for later. But later never really came. For example, when I got the legendary cake recepe, I was like, OH MAN! this is gonna be SOO useful for the final boss. So, even though I had it, I never used it in fights like the sun temple and the Mithalas Cathedral (Where I REALLy could have used it). Then, when I did get to the final boss, I was so wrapped up in the fight that I forgot about it. So I never got to see the legendary cake in action. Same thing goes for the divine soup, or the plump perogi. I kept saving them for some super encounter that never came. Has this happened to anyone else?

[Spoilers]

BTW, I found a really helpful was to stay alive against the creator's 5th form. After he fires his super laser, he raises his hand and shoots 5 little energy balls. Instead of running away, I found that absorbing these shots in spirit form almost eliminated the need for health foods. I  dunno if other people already knew this, but that strategy allowed me to beat the creator first try using just 1 full-health poultice.

I have it too, yes. ;) Will check if it'll occur on the third run too. ;)

And yes, that's the most useful place for Spirit form, congrats for finding out. ;)

I'm on my second run now (I was holding out until version 1.1.1), and I had the same problem on my first. I actually did the opposite against the Golem, panicking and eating several +1 regeneration foods and an arcane poultice. Fortunately, I was able to go back to a previous save.  :)

Heh, Chibi, I was doing the same thing. Waiting for this v1.1.1 :) I'm wondering if Alec is going to throw any more pleasant surprises in his v1.1.3. He always seems to have something up his sleeve. He said he's waiting on more feedback for more bugs, but I have feeling that he's probably up to something... well other than working on his other projects with the noammo team.

Drawing upon my (rather limited) knowledge of Alec, that's almost a certainty. Here's me hoping.  :)

Has Alec altered it a bit so you can find more of the red bulbs?  ::)

I did the same in the first game, saving the specials and not using them but the second time I did use them but I always made sure that I had at least 3 for the last boss form.

That would be great - I found it interesting that the "Special" bulbs are comparatively easier to acquire than the mundane red bulbs.  8) Gone are the days of having 8 hot borscht and volcano rolls (because of Alec's fixing of the esc cheat)  :(:)

Well it's got to be something that isn't too easy to kill so how about the laser beasts in Mythlas temple dropping them Alec and then there would be enough red bulbs to make a few extra hot borsche etc. ?

I would love it if the Simon Says boss dropped them every few tries - it would be a welcome replacement to the rather mediocre eggs and oils normally spawned. Thanks Alec!

That would be ok for those who could beat that boss but there are a lot who stand no chance at all with him Chibi, unless at the same time the notes were reduced to 6 instead of 8?

It's funny. I went through the whole game and never used a red bulb. i used a special bulb once. Why are red bulbs so good?

They allow you to make a +2 Energy Form shot (Volcano Form), and are the primary ingredients in both Borschts (Cold and Hot). Hot Borscht gives you +1 speed for 30 seconds and +3 health, while Cold Borscht gives you +1 defense at the expense of the speed increase.

Dropped red bulbs are a good idea!!!

The pistol shrimp may drop one from time to time (10-20%), maybe a creature from the abyss (don't know which one atm). Will try to think on something else... :)
