The Astronomy Thread

Ok, as you know, i am completely obsessed with astronomy. So im going to focus my studies into one thread. To start off, here are some pictures of nebulas.

Bubble Nebula (I saw this one through an observatory telescope on my vacation!)

Very neat pictures: I had nebulae  as my desktop background on and off for the last two years. There's something truly arresting about the constructions of vapor and dust present in a nebula.

I say nubulas unless its in a report, then i say nubulae, nubulas is just more fun to say.

The size of the first one is simply mind blowing when you realise that the nearby stars would swallow the Earth like our skin would a bacteria.

Exactly why i blew the pictures up, to make it seem bigger than if it were small.

What kind of telescope did you use, and where did you take the pictures?

I didnt take these, the Hubble took some of them, i got them from Wikipediaaaaaa!

What bold-ed section? I don't remember any formatting of that description. 

I think it's a crying shame that the Hubble is being dismantled; though the James Webb satellite is far superior, I feel nostalgia for the cash-guzzling scope.

Firstly I think that you would need to get permission to use them, and secondly no telescope or camera could take images like that far too much atmospheric intererence or distortion.
I have to admit to a small knowledge on this subject also mainly becuase science and scifi have always been one of interests. Xiagan, I most likely have read them they ring a bell.

Indeed, it's harder to take good pictures on Earth because of the atmosphere that cause dispersion of light which is why some folks had the great idea to place a telescope in space (that would be Hubble!).

Cool and Great pictures shared.  Do you have other Astronomy pictures that you can share and post it in this forum?  It will be very much appreciated.  You can just provide a link that we can see them and not posting the whole image in the thread.
