That sounds like the rant of an apolitically active person.  ;) You have to consider the contrast between Bush and Obama to really understand why Obama supporters make such a ruckus. After eight years of everything going wrong one item at a time, people are rejoicing in the knowledge that Bush is never going to be president again.  :) Elections happen every four years, but they are far from mundane events. So simply raise up your nose at the loud and crazed and keep your profound opinions to yourself.  ;)

{EDIT} My thoughts exactly,  dear Silverflagon.  :)

Now don't start a political discussion for goodness sake, the eletion is over and any further talk on this subject is dangerous ground and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :)

I was unaware it had to be election time to talk about political issues.  Just because the election is over doesn't mean we can't talk about the new president elect hmm?

One thing I'd like to see is a political debate that's actually respectful of other viewpoints. Often, on the internet at least, they degenerate into name-calling pretty fast, and become immature and pointless.

Man, Xiagan! You read my mind.  ;) Godwin's law is one of my favorites.

Obama is like Hitler.  He swears at peasants, beats up his neighbors, and is destined to die in a ditch covered in petrol (likely on fire).

Not really.  But I can dream can't I?

Another forum I'm on has enough political talk and enough people who'd rather not see it that they have a separate sub-forum for it. It's called Political Opinions and Opinionated Posts, or POOP for short. I've never heard a more appropriate acronym. It lends itself to all sorts of fanciful constructions: "This topic smells a bit POOPy to me," "Yeah, those guys really like to roll around in POOP," "This sounds like a job for the POOP patrol," "An admin needs to pull out the POOPer scooper on this thread," etc.
