I heard "rad" replaced "awesome" in California already too.  8)

Not that I'm aware of, unless that's something extremely recent. Being a California native, I haven't heard it used since I was a young kid. I suppose it could be floating around in the younger generations again though. Seems that a lot of mixed fads have been making a come back. I dig it. :) Just so long as the neon colors don't make a rise again and the Hammer pants! :P And don't get me started on the Vanilla Ice hair-doo either. I still can't believe that guy is singing... and rock of all things... what garbage. Someone please put me out of my misery!

cough!

Ok I was a member of the hippy movement for a while and I used all the trite words, but once the 70's passed I stopped using them, now I wonder if yopu will still use all the fashionable words, and sayings that are going around now once this decade has passed?

Probably not... however this conversation spikes a funny thought in my mind of bringing back a hip term from back in the BC days.

"UGH!!!!!"

Well 'cool' is being used again in the UK :(
But really the way we spoke was dopey thinking about it now but at the time we were enjoying thrill of being free of our parents values for once and the language was just another part of that statement. Kids now are just using words that have been around for a long time but just giving them different meanings like 'pants'if something is 'pants' to them they mean that it's really awful! lol

From spreading the Aquaria love to "faddish terms", just odd how this thread changed. :P I've never even heard of the term "pants" used in any such way. odd. Was that one of those Flower Power, Peace and Love and not war era words? Groovy was used a lot back then wasn't it?

I'm not sure I get the idea of words like groovy, far out, or...pants was it?  Words like sweet and awesome make more sense.  I use those.  But then there are words like cool, hip, rad, dude, and various others that have come about since the 70s and 80s that I just don't get at all.
