About the rough edges, im using photoshop, which is a raster based program, so its pixalated, sorry about that.

I've never had any problem with pixelation on Photoshop CS2: are you using an earlier version or a slow computer?

Elements Cs3 on a very EXTREMELY fast computer with a very high graphics card actually. I wish i had illustrator.

You should do the upgrade to CS4 Extended, a lot of nice improvements! :) Me and my wife both made the upgrade.

I use Photoshop also, my avatar painting was created in PS so it is possible, But it is time consuming work so if you do decide to work slowly on it smoothing the edges, do remember to take time to rest your hands and flex them and rest your eyes also

Here is a tutorial on how to paint hair using PS, not only is it useful for painting the subject but it also shows you how to use it for 'painting' I mean painting by the use of the tool. :D
