Gameplay / Re: sea horse race- do I have to???

I managed it within about a second or two using solely fish form. I kept using Spirit form too early or too late, so I gave up on that strategy. In the end, it's all a matter of getting a feel for the course. The prize isn't too terribly useful; simply put, it's more fun than functional. It's good for traveling, though.

@Succubus: Well you can always go back. =P

You could use something like say, a flute for that.
I only have a saxophone. =P Anyway I expect flute would be more awkward. I don't necessarily have to hold a sax with my hands since there's a neckstrap.

So... if the code's in there, does that mean the feature's actually activated in the game? [/noob] >_<

Have you tried spinning? Usually two or three revolutions quickly enough will do the trick.

Hmm, I wonder if, when tuned, my saxophone would've worked for that? That'd be pretty sick.

Isn't it? I thought that was how they fed. =o

Besides being one of the cutest imo. ^_^

It's more the harming otters, which are adorable, vs. harming fish which, to me, are effectively unprepared food that happens to move around. =P

I've never heard a Lady Gaga song in my life and my friends tell me I should keep it that way. :/

What exactly do you do? Sing to cheer up visitors to the cemetery?

I agree with your friends.

It's an ice cream place, we sing whenever someone gives us a tip. But the pun is well appreciated.  :)
Never said it'd be good, just said it'd be wacky. xP I don't hate the songs, personally, but they don't even approach being worthy of me adding any to my iPod.

Don't believe in the Zanith who believes in Lady-Succubus who believes in Xiagan who believes in you, believe in the you that believes in yourself! =D

Okies. =^.^=

But let's remember the topic of this thread! xD

Perhaps we could get extra spells that would bend the verse in on itself, compacting it so that it creates a whole new creature (that only lasts for a few minutes), and that creature would fight for the caster? Combined with that past idea of synchronized singing, I think it could be one of the only ways to kill some bosses--to create a temporary group pet to attack them.

So like a pet, but more powerful and temporary? That's a thought. Hmmm, and songs could activate different abilities for it, since having multiple abilities is the easiest way to make summons superior to regular pets.

It doesn't look like people have taken a clear stab at the story for this thing yet in this thread, so first of all, would this thing be pre- or post- Aquaria? A prequel seems easier, considering the condition of the races after the ending. Plus... I've been wondering about this for a while. Would the Verse still exist after the Creator died? I suppose since his creations didn't change afterwards, neither would it, but... eh, I guess I just like to see the Verse as being radiated from the Creator rather than being a part of all of his creations, intertwined with them.

Gameplay / Re: Eaten by a fish in the Kelp Forest

Every critter which can shoot something will give you its shooting ability if you eat it. You can stock a nice pile of different shots this way. :)

And even some that don't shoot give you shots, like those triangular green things.
Moneyes. And according to eats.txt the nests give you eight shots of them and the moneyes themselves, naturally, give you one. They do four damage, same max speed, and can bounce.

@Pelar: Spicy Soup. Gives you 24 Sea Dragon shots. They do the same damage as Moneye heads, apparently.

Oh really? That might've been helpful to know earlier on. Doh.

I was thinking more along the lines of using its size to your advantage. Running through a barrier perhaps? Bopping a large boss on the head with it?  :-\

It's better than killing fish--fellow aquatic creatures--for meat. o.o
Honestly, I don't feel bad about that at all. Probably has something to do with my taste for seafood.

14
It always makes me feel just a teensy bit guilty, mugging cute little sea otters for their food. D=

According to the Lua script it's health is 60. But after getting damaged its health gets reset to 60, so in order to kill it you would have to be able to deal a shot which does 60+ damage. A normal energy shot deals 1 damage, and one that's been powered up by spicy soup does 1,5 damage, but this is adjustable in the data files.
I had mine set to 100 damage to go through the game a little faster to see if some of my translations fit onto the screen. That's how I've been able to kill it I guess.
Aha, so that's how it works. Thanks!

@Zoko: That'd be interesting. Dunno what kind of puzzle would require a giant, nigh-invulnerable red jellyfish, but I suspect it would be an awesome one. =P
