I wonder how well it will run on an last generation Mac Book. The new ones have more integrated VRAM but I wonder how it will run on my puny Mac Book with 64. Times like this makes me wish I didnt downgrade from a Mac Book Pro.I'm sure it will be fine on any MacBook. The MacBooks are all new enough that there should be no problem.
Just as the subject says. I have both platforms, I use Mac more often and would prefer that. I have already bought PC...You will almost certainly have to buy the Mac version separately. That has been the policy of Ambrosia Software in the past, and is the way that most publishers roll. I can't imagine that it is going to change in the future.
I haven't even played the game yet -- though I hope I don't have to pay for it twice.
Though I'd like to support bitblot...
For one apple doesn't have direct X 10...What does DirectX10 have to do with anything?
I agree! In part, it may be a bit of a legacy issue. Some 23 years ago, when Macs were first introduced, Jobs was very worried that people would look at the GUI, and think that Mac's were for games, relegating them to the toy category. I think that Apple has been very slow to realize that a serious machine can also play games. It may be the kind of thing that happens in the future, I wouldn't hold my breath -- at least not until Jobs is dead and buried.
I would like to see Macs become like PC/Consoles hybrids! Why hasn't Apple designed an awesomely user friendly gamepad and built-in game launcher yet?
What about mutes, you insensitive clod!Actually, assuming that they communicate in one sign language or another, they will sign with an accent. Nifty, no?
Well since Alec has given the green lightBut Bit-Blot releasing Aquaria via Steam should have no effect upon you whatsoever. Bit-Blot are already planning to release Aquaria retail-style (I'm guessing a download from their site, or something). So, you get that version, and Steam users get their Steam version. Also, for many programs, Steam is not required to be running the background. For instance, all of the files from all three of Introversion's games can be taken out of the Steam directory, and (sometimes with a little patching) can be run without Steam. This is because Steam does not require that DRM be present. I see no reason that Bit-Blot couldn't do the same, if they so chose., I was really not trying to dissuade or persuade the guys at Bit-Blot or coach them into making one decision or another, I was just trying to get the point across as to why I personally don't like Steam.
I have a big problem with being forced to have one app running in the background just so I can use another, I think many would agree that there are enough mysterious background apps running (in Windows) at all times. Having one more app may not seem like much but to me it's just as annoying as lets say -- Spyware.
If one has fink installed, the procedure is similar on a Mac. Though there is a GUI to help.Code: [Select]sudo aptitude install unrar
...is all it takes. God bless Ubuntu.
--==<snip>==--But I use a Mac! WinRAR is useless! I would rather use UnRarX!
Ugh. I knew someone would misinterpret what I was saying.Actually, I wasn't responding to you at all. I was responding to Windburn. That is why I wrote this:
I should make it clear that I really don't care if Bit-Blot goes through Steam or not, and am in no way trying to persuade them, one way or the other. I am just trying to point out that the portion that Valve takes is, in the long run, probably irrelevant, thanks to the large volume of sales through Steam. In any case, it doesn't matter to me, as I am a Mac user, and will be buying from Ambrosia.
