Gameplay / Re: Reversion to Normal from Beast Form...an issue
« on: December 29, 2007, 02:08:40 am »
I dunno, I can beat him with mouse only. ;)

Funny enough I beat him with mouse only, too.
My brother told me later on that I can just switch with 1-8.
I was about to bite into my keyboard, since I almost freaked out at the sun temple boss :P.

Ok, getting back to the topic - did anybody collected all the treasures?

Apparently, it was today that i earned the last one  :) I was thinking, there will be some kind of bonus or something when you collect all the stuff but it's just rather plain and nothing happens, but who knows  ::)

I got the last one some time ago, nothing happened for me, too.
It's probably just a "nice to have".

Okay, so I've been trying it... and I have a problem. He keeps doing patterns that make me transform. And when I try to change back, I fail.
Do I just have to keep going until I luck out?

To prevent transforming into another form, keep holding the ctrl-button down (or the right mousebutton).
Don't let go off the button after each song, just keep the singing circle open.

Oh, I thought it was the goal of the gameplay to actually do it without a lightsource and then find something like that. Explored almost the whole abyss just by drawing the fluorescent fishes near me and wondered why this part of the game is so hard and frustrating.

So, to make it clear, there is a light source to be found, that is not hidden in the abyss?

addit: ha! I got out of that pearl cave without light, I'm so happy ;_;

I thought that too at first.
Why? Everytime you found the right area to proceed further in the story, Naija says something.

In the whale there are several lights you can turn on by using the sun burst (charging "attack" in sun form").
They happen to have different colors... :)

I support this idea (with mouse-over).
I missed this when I was in boss fights and didn't know which recipe has which effect.

Oh, a note on the walker thingies, you don't need spirit form to get past them, you can eat them too.

EDIT: Where the heck do you get the third cooking slot and what is this "Simon Sez" monster boss thing?

In order to get the third cooking slot you have to beat the "Simon sez" monster's challenge.
First, go to the Arnassi ruins which is divided into two maps: The first map is the racing circuit, the second map is the darker one with the giant crab boss and the secret ancient turtle. Search the lower left walls (western part of the cave) for a hidden passage (use the sun form) which you can only see on the minimap. When found (should be hidden near a giant arnassi statue), switch to Fish form and you'll find the ancient turtle. Ride it into the Kelp Forest, swim left and rightclick the boss to start the challenge.
He will roar if you fail the challenge, but won't do you any harm.

Gameplay / Re: (spoilers) Wolffish in the Kelp Forest
« on: December 14, 2007, 03:53:58 pm »
I'm just wondering if you can do anything about the wolf fish that seem to be guarding something because for the one that is south of the nature goddess. While you can't see anything beyond where the wolffish is, on the map there seems to be a further pathway. I did manage to sneak by in fish form once before but ran into something that hurt (no idea what, couldn't even see), so I ran back out.

could try again now that I have nature form, but there are a few more wolffish scattered around the kelp forest that may be quarding something. So I'm just wondering about it.

edit: scratch that location, there's nothing there, I guess it's just the wolffish's own lair. It was probably a different one I was thinking of.

I think you've found the location of the black pearl treasure (not sure which wolffish you mean exactly).
Behind the wolffish, there is a passway without light and with thorns, so that's probably what hurt you (happened to me, too).
You will have to get the dumbo-octopus pet or the sun form to continue through the cave (or a whole lot of luck).

I think this isn't even intended to be a way for the fish form.
There's a similar small hole on the left wall just beneath the entrance to the sun-temple-like part of Naija's cave and you can't enter it either.

Okay, we've had some good, typical monster fishes. Weird fish, cool fish, freaky fish, photoshopped fish.

But, we haven't seen anything... well... Bad

Until now.

Ladys and Gentlefish, I now introduce you to...

The Mantis Shrimp

Is it just me or does this thing exactly look like the lobster boss in The Ice Veil (the one throwing bombs at you)?

Nice wiki, I added the forms page and some formatting for the treasure list.

Swim down in beast, hug the wall then switch to fish with the number key, and pop right in.

I tried that before, didn't work.
The current's too strong.

Gameplay / Re: The last form [spoilers]
« on: December 13, 2007, 12:28:28 pm »
In the blue form you charge up and shoot, when you kill things in this form you collect energy from the dead creatures.

Once you have a charge (white orb forms on chest), you can unleash a deadly scream on all nearby foes by charging an attack in the pink form.

P.S. Spin for a while to change between blue/pink

Correct, you need to kill at least 3 enemies in the Li-Form to activate Naija-Form's devastating scream.
This even works on small fish schools, practically on everything you can kill.
It won't kill greater enemies instantly, though, like the Green Sea Dragon (the big seahorse in The Kelp Forest), except for the barrier-monsters in The Body.

Verses?  They're sort of split up into two groups of three, I'll grant, but playing them separately doesn't help.  Playing the 2nd half backwards doesn't help either.

This took me forever too.

IIRC, play 4-2-1-8-4-2-1-3-4-2-1-5

Yep, that's correct.
I found it rather easy, though, since the mother or whatever already sang the song for me.

I'll give you a tip:
1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 5, 1 2 3 6. (All in one song)
