Actually... I was thinking the same thing as Alec, that the iphone would not have enough power but...

Interesting. I had no idea that the iphone had any kind of graphics acceleration.

General / Re: I have found a word describing Aquaria's ending
« on: March 29, 2008, 04:58:27 pm »

I'm going to take the advice here and ignore complaints that I don't agree with. Then maybe I can actually finish it.

That's pretty much how it's gotta go hehe. Thing is... odds are most people have SOMETHING they don't like about any particular thing. Just because they don't like a certain thing or suggest it should be changed doesn't mean that you should. It sounds like the OP is trying to describe the ending like a quick patch up for an out of control plot line (a la prison break)... but I really disagree with that. If you look back at the story, it makes sense. Even if you weren't given specific clues, you can look back at the fact that you start out looking just to wander around then you KILL A TON OF GODS. You can also look at Naija's internal darkness, such as when she swears revenge on whoever took Li. The fact is that Mia created the darkness within her, and all it took was some leading to build up her destructive potential.

Some criticism is valid, some is wrong, but... neither one means you have to listen to it =P

Yeah for example they gave the orange box 8/10.. hehe

The review was almost all positive, and from looking at some of the scores given to other games, aquaria did pretty damn good.

Credit card companies take care of losses from online fraud. You can get a paypal account (free) which is SECURE and basically acts as a buffer between your credit card and the retailer.

So you have

Credit card->Paypal
Paypal->Vendor

No one aside from you and paypal sees your credit card info. You can remove it at any time, and I can pretty much guarantee you no one at paypal will misuse your information. I have never heard of this EVER happening (and their infrastructure most likely makes it near-impossible to exploit from the inside). If there's ever a dispute, paypal will know how much money was sent, etc, so you will be able to get things resolved.

I work in information security. I'm a lot more paranoid than most, and I really don't feel comfortable hooking up my bank account to a paypal account. But I'm not too concerned with a credit card. There are lots of rules in place for electronic fraud, and it will be paypal or the bank who takes the loss the majority of the time. Not to mention, the only way you will ever get exploited is if you buy stuff from an untrusted site (which is pretty much your own fault) or if you give away your password (which again, is pretty much your fault).

I know you won't change your mind based on this, but nowadays it's pretty safe to go through paypal. I would say a lot safer than shopping in a store such as winners where your credit card info is SAVED and left in unsecure systems a la TJ maxx. Paypal at least knows how to secure data properly =P

Gameplay / Re: Bosses! No spoilers.
« on: December 14, 2007, 06:08:04 pm »
some of the minibosses though like the seadragons and the three eyed creatures with black fish around them do respawn when you change areas.

The main bosses however, don't respawn, so yea you have to start a new game.

...unless someone ends up making the arena mod. Hehe.

I'm actually installing a wiki atm for a work-related thing. I think it *should* be all just in the database, right? I imagine since the software is really involved it'll probably have some kind of export too =P

Haha.. I had this happen once. I was in the veil, and I'm not sure entirely how I did it, but I actually ended up getting teleported into the sky. I have one big line across the sky unlocked now =P

Modding / Re: Easy mode / Hardcore mode

Actually, when I read this topic, I had the idea of an Arena-battle type mod. Basically, it would just be a series of boss battles, or waves of enemies, where you'd have to use your various powers to defeat all the bosses, stay alive as long as possible, or defeat bosses as fast as possible. I dunno. I may have some time to mess around with this in the future...

I found that against mithralas (cathedral boss) for maximum hilarity, use the shield song when he goes nuts =D

..only problem is you have to either keep using it or not take the full blast in the face cause your shield wears out.
