Support / Re: Gamepad support in latest steam version?

Well there you go, NO PORT NEEDED for Wii

a port is needed if your computer doesnt have bluetooth and/or for those that dont have computers at all.

wii audience is massive and its a shame for it to go untapped. if world of goo can appear on wiiware.........

Unrelated question: after I buy the game, can I burn it to a CD or DVD and reinstall it at a later date?

cant answer the other stuff, save to say that ive got an ati card and ive really had no graphical problems. i think the ati issue is only to do with the vertical sync setting not working correctly.

as far as burning. absolutely fine. the game installer file is just over 200meg, easily fitting onto a cd.
theres no activation process or anything like that in the new variant of the game.

as far as plimus is concerned. i think they are terrible and their customer support is even worse.
if it were not for the fact that i already bought the game months ago i would have got the steam version instantly which doesnt require uninstalling and reinstalling the entire game again for new updates.

would definitely work on the nintendo wii aswell.

what with the wiimote so easily giving mouse input to games. (see world of goo, sam and max)

well im going to switch off everything external to the game (screensavers, pwoer saving, kaspersky etc)
and test again.
i will also try and test if theres a definite/certain time or if i can reproduce it, or if certain button combos on the wireless 360 controller make it happen(perhaps the guide button being pressed inadvertently causes it, or a button sequence gives the same affect)

so dont close this one jsut yet as ill test a bit more. unfortunately my time this afternoon is limited now as its getting towards dinner time. but i can squeeze another 30mins -1hr out of the game probably.

I see, interesting...

Can you reproduce it reliably? (like if you go between the same two areas, will it always happen?)

cant reproduce it at will sorry.
it seems random as the next time i enter the area that was previously affected, it doesnt do it.

but after some time of playing it will suddenly just happen. all 3 times has been when going between areas of the world (not actually in the world fighting enemies or anything)
i havent timed the length of time between, but its quite a bit of time. (its not every 5 or 10 minutes for example)

could it be related to screen savers? (they might be trying to trigger on) or monitor power saving options?
(although neither does come on when the game minimizes)

both of those are set to come on after a certain length of time (if i recall its 30mins for the screensaver and 45mins-1hr for the monitor off)

Support / Re: [Solved] Minimizing the Window by Accident
« on: December 20, 2008, 03:23:00 pm »
Its happened a couple more times since.

It always happens on a transition to an area (dont know if its limited to just new areas ive not been to - but its only happened on going to new areas)

cannot be the windows key as im playing use a 360 wireless gamepad with a 360 wireless reciever and my keyboard is on the other side of the room, on a desk, with nothing touching it or near it.
the gamepad key/button settings are unalatered. they are the same as the default game has them.

when the minizmie to desktop occurence happens the windows start menu does not appear, nor does the task bar (autohide is on). you are simply dumped back to the desktop screen.

well blow me the game was minimized as you said. looking in the taskbar i see the program and naiyas sat there waiying for me to do something. good job there were no enemies around

however i did nothing to instigate it minimizing and nothing in windows is active, save kaspersky internet security and catalyst control center (but those are always running) and kaspersky is set to ignore aquaria.exe and is already updated today.

i dont have any of those chat programs like messenger etc on this computer. and there were no onscreen alerts of any kind.

ill keep an eye on it,  might just be a freak occurence.

swift response though. cool stuff.

Just defeated a boss in the energy temple and got a new form for the girl to turn into (naiya??)

came back out of that temple into the area where you can enter naiyas home.
near that (in the same location) is a hole for one of those marbles(pearls) to fit in. i dragged the pearl up to the hole. bypassing the hidden octopus, activated the door using naiyas energy form and when i went through the transition (i assume to a new location) the game promptly crashed to desktop on me with no error message.

i see there is a debug-log text file in the game directory. im including the last few lines of that file because the whole thing probably wont fit in here. (can be emailed if required)

is there any way to enable triple buffering in the game options directly, instead of going through catalyst control center (ati) ?

10
if i play with a gamepad (360 wireless controller) will i be affected with this on 1.1.1 whilst waiting for 1.1.2?

after 6 days

i admire your patience. its greater than mine.

although i will say that i included everything (order reference numbers, name and address, phone number, etc. etc.) and they didnt respond either only to close the support ticket, so dont feel bad for only including limited info.

I was wondering something...

Could you contact Valve to use their CD-key system for Aquaria?
So we could use our product key and donwload the game on Steam.

The main reason why I ask this is because I have lost my old order e-mail, with all the informations I need... Plus, Steam is just great :p

i too would like to see some way of us using our authentication keys that we got with the old versions of the game with the new steam version.
its a good centralised platform i feel.

however i dont expect it will. only old valve games seem to be able to be registered that way.

you haven't bought lifetime support for your $16/$20/$30.

i knew the analogy would get picked apart. poor analogy, i shouldnt have used it because software is very different. but its all that came to mind whilst i was feeding the kids.

actually i think i have paid for lifetime support, unless you can point out where im not entitled to any new updates that get released within the natural lifetime of the software in question?

i too am not going to argue further though. its ultimately pointless as the problem has been identified/rectified and that specific question answered.

hey, short of ass kissing and saying im sorry theres not much i can do.
by whining it appears i have uncovered a fundamental problem with the plimus system. which benefits some people im sure.

whether the method i went about it was seen as terse, direct or rude is really a matter of perception.
i wanted my questions answered - just as i would ask a mechanic to fix my car and not be interested in his small talk, idle banter or trying to fob me off with excuses - i got my questions answered.

maybe my bitching and turning half the boards populace against me has paid off in some regard then? lol

i knew something funny was going on when a big company like plimus doesnt respond at all, or passes responsibility back to the developers.
the conspiracy theorist in me was starting to think they were lashing out at the developers for going over to steam and its payment options. ;)

hopefully everything will be smoothed over.
