Hey Alec, I'm ready to test it, but expect a wait of about two days, because I'm leaving for a snowboarding trip soon. Could you make sure that the file hosting site is free? Thanks for the quick work.  :)

Do you think the patch is major enough to be worth getting when/if it comes out for mac?

Do you mean 1.1.1? If so, yes. If you mean the patch for the file bug, then no, because it is only present in Vista.

[EDIT] By the way, I noticed some strange flashing particles on the main map - do they serve any function besides leading the player back to the center of the map? The dots are a little distracting.

where is this 'patch' then?

i see no patch download. all i see is the developer first stating to email plimus or himself with order reference details to get the, i imagine, full game download of the new version, and then finally fobbing it off completely to plimus to get the new game - who are slow as a funeral.

ive emailed both (zaphire@gmail.com and support@plimus.com) and received nothing back after just under 3 days.

so where is this patch i can download for the game instead of, again i imagine, just having to download the entire game again?

if there is no patch... why not? why force people to download the entire game again??

I've already answered about 400 reactivation requests, I'm running two companies and I'm trying to fix bugs. I'm nearly burnt out, man. I have about 30 activations that I haven't got to, I've been delaying them because I'm about to release 1.1.2 which fixes a couple things.

If Plimus can handle stuff for me, that makes my life a lot easier.

The new version of the game is now DRM-free, so I can't just release it without verifying that a customer has a valid order.

this thread is misleading as i said in the other topic. it shouldnt been allowed to continue existing because it gives the impression there is a patch to download.... how on earth the topic creator could mistake a full game download for a patch is beyond my comprehension??

Folks simply assumed there would be a patch and were excited about the new version. They weren't posting to intentionally mislead anyone.

I'll edit the first post to make it clear how the download process currently works.

Because he (I) didn't know that there will be a new version. Nobody outside the beta-testers, bitblot or plimus knew.

And you are being more rude than we normally experience it around here, no matter what you state about you being a customer with valid concerns in the other topic.  ::)

Maybe you could try adjusting your perception and try to be more compassionate, yumyum. I mean if you want to get down to the inhuman, unemotional nuts and bolts, you have already received the product you paid for. I know you would rather ignore the human and emotional side of life, but doing so really makes you come across as irrational. Logic alone is not enough to get you through life.

Some deep thoughts from someone who used to be like yumyum.  edit:  (or, I should say, used to let logic rule and throw out those quirky emotional bits ;p)

hey, short of ass kissing and saying im sorry theres not much i can do.
by whining it appears i have uncovered a fundamental problem with the plimus system. which benefits some people im sure.

whether the method i went about it was seen as terse, direct or rude is really a matter of perception.
i wanted my questions answered - just as i would ask a mechanic to fix my car and not be interested in his small talk, idle banter or trying to fob me off with excuses - i got my questions answered.

I don't want to argue any further but I don't like the proverb you are refering to. (The end justifies the means.)

The difference to the mechanic is quite simple: You paid him to fix your car. You don't expect the guy you bought your car from to fix/upgrade it for free if there is a new engine/smooth lacquer in your favorite colour on the market for it.
From Alec you expect to do exactly that. That's okay, because Alec likes to help people, but you may at least be polite, because you haven't bought lifetime support for your $16/$20/$30.

i knew the analogy would get picked apart. poor analogy, i shouldnt have used it because software is very different. but its all that came to mind whilst i was feeding the kids.

actually i think i have paid for lifetime support, unless you can point out where im not entitled to any new updates that get released within the natural lifetime of the software in question?

i too am not going to argue further though. its ultimately pointless as the problem has been identified/rectified and that specific question answered.

hey, short of ass kissing and saying im sorry theres not much i can do.

Simple respect actually goes a long way. Instead of seeing the game as little more than a product that you have paid for and now own, and by extension seeing Bit-Blot's customer support team (i.e. Alec, one man) as a service at your disposal because of the money you paid, you could treat the game as a creation and its creators as human, neither of which could realistically be perfect.  The fact that your relationship to Alec is one of a buyer to a seller does not mean that you have to remove human considerations, like mutual respect and patience and empathy, from your conversation. Alec responds to customer concerns in an extremely timely and determined manner because he cares, not because he is a machine programmed to fulfill your needs and bow to your whining...  maybe you know how to "get things done", but the world would truly be a sad place if that were the extent of all person-to-person interactions.
