Title: That Bush... Not the ex President I hasten to add...
Post by: silverflagon on November 18, 2008, 09:19:22 pm
To make this easier for me (because my RSI is back!  :o ) I will just post the message that greeted my artist friends one day (early morning for them, without the bad language )  :o We do tend to use very strong and basic language in our private forum lol ;)

Quote
Keep an eye out for the headlines, housewife/wanabee artist arested for murder!
I was roused from my bed by the sounds of power tools this morning, and peering from my window I saw two 'men/lowlives' cutting great pieces from my pride and joy  :o

The reason for this was it was hanging over the handrail on the right of this photo

but they weren't just trimming it back the have taken great pieces out of the centre where it mightwill not grow again, and their reasoning....... It's their job to keep such things as paths and hand rails clear on Council owned land, even if it means killing your property to do it.
I was yelling blue murder at them and came within an inch of laying my hands on one of them when he replied to me calling it a blue bush, that it looked green to him  :o >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
I didn't get a better reaction from their boss either so I am taking this as high as I can and I will not back down because we have been
#### on by the council just once to often now  ???

I've been crying at times because I feel so damn helpless because other than it regrowing it is just beyond anything much :( Only time will tell now  :'(

Mmm Only one swear word, perhaps I was past swearing?  ;D and now you know and you know what greets me when I leave home  >:(

That ramp is not there for my use and hopefully I will never need it :o it was made for the previous tenant who needed an electric chair to get about in because of his bad heart.

Shouting to men with chainsaws is probably very brave or very stupid. ;)

And I feel sorry for your bush. We once had a house in France and it has a big wall full of ivy and other green stuff on it. On the other side of the wall was the road and it was about 2.5 m higher than the ground on our side of the wall. By french law the owner of the wall is the one which land lies higher (no joke!) so it was the commune and they once cut it completely free. So after that everybody was able to look into our garden, which was completely sight-protected before. :-/

That is a silly law but almost typical for French law from what I've heard? Our law states that if the rough side of a wall faces your property then that wall is yours, and also if the cross bars on a fence is on your side then the fence is your property.
And if it's a hedge then it's the one on your right, but so far I haven't figured out if it's the right as you face out, or the right when you face your house? :o  ;)

I think that I would face down the Terminator if I was angry enough Xaigan lol I have a feeling that there might be berzerker blood in me lol

The infamous bush, eh? The best thing to do is to pity them, because they have little power, and exercise it in petty ways (often at the expense of beauty) Similarly, an incident occurred when a fireman turned on the siren because we were blocking his way (it wasn't an emergency) saying, "Lady, get out of the way!" You should have seen my mother's face. "  >:( "  ;D
I could write an essay on the topic, but this is the main idea
Hope the bush survives to grow the perfect ... lilac!  ;)

[EDIT] Oops, should have said flower.  ;)

Damn you and your tiny text.  It's like reading a contract.  I have to look at the fine print within the fine print.

I too feel for your bush.  How is that council property anyway?  It's your house isn't it?  I don't know english law but in American law we have a concept that land 2 feet or so from the road is owned by the city for purposes of installing lamp posts etc.  Anything encroaching on that (fences, bushes, etc.) are to be removed.

I don't see how, if the handrail was for a person who USED to live on your property, they can find a reason to commission such butchers.

Thank you chibi :D It's not a rose bush thgough so if a rose grew on it then I would have my Californian lilac in the news lol

That sounded very much like someone in authority stepping outside their rights, but they usually do need to get back to their station pretty fast to prepare for any other possible emergency..

Glamador, unfortunately I don't own my flat I rent from the authority, the reason for that is a long story and I won't trouble you with it because it might bore you to tears.  ;D The ground in front of my place is owned by them But we are allowed to grow plants and look after it so long as we keep them trimmed..
My problem with them is not so much the fact that they trimmed it, I am upset and angry because of the way that they went about it and the extreme pruning that was done that has killed half the bush.. It will never grow again where they cut into it's centre :(

That's the point: they are little tangents (Easter Eggs, if you will) off the main thread of the post.

It would've been an easter egg if it was written in the same colour as the background. Yours are easily findable and just a bit annoying.;)

Nice one: Unfortunately, I found yours more easily than the process involved in copying and pasting.

                                                                                                                                                                                                ;) Find that one  ;D

Yeah, because I posted a smiley at the end (on purpose, ofc). But if you post something topic-related and then something invisible, then most people won't see it - like a real easter egg - but that's not your intention. You do want to get read by everyone, even (or especially) if it takes them some effort. ;)

teeny text has been used to great effect on this forum for spoilers in the game. I'm sure this is used on other forums too but I've only really seen it embraced here, and was one of the initial things that impressed me on how the fan community left an invisiclues breadcrumb trail of hints instead of blatantly walking you through.

on some other forums I've perched on they've used binary as a spoiler code, with a link to a binary translator applet. I havn't really been converting non-spoiler teeny text as I felt it was said in hushed tones of confidence that it would be rude to pry and eavesdrop on  :D

Okay, Okay, I'll cease using tiny text for my own amusement. Unless 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01110111 01101000 01101001 01101101 00100000 01110100 01100001 01101011 01100101 01110011 00100000 01101101 01100101 (No need to read the last part)  ;) Easy way or hard way, your choice.

unless the whim takes me. (Just a little joke before I stop)

Look what happens when I vanish for a short while, you lot can not be trusted  ;) :D But hiding your little asides was a bit unnecissary Chibi, sub text is a much smarter way to do it  ;) ;D Just like this ;)

I believe it is about how workers unappreciative of the beauty of Silverflagon's bush cut it down, bringing down silver's wrath upon their heads. (In other words, the British equivalent of rednecks pissed off silver. )

Yes big time Alec lol Ok if you are townies you perhaps might not understand but I've grown up loving growing things and I hate it when people who are ignorant of them go cutting plants up for no good reason.

Red necks, somehow that doesn't quite fit really, aren't red necks people who work out in the fields for long periods and get sunburned necks from it? These are not like that at all, they are just townies who perhaps just have e few downtrodden plants and a square of grass to cut, if and when they bother to cut it even...

That was what the word redneck initially meant, but the concept evolved to include truck drivers and the like. Generally the surly, uneducated and poor of today's society. The people who cut down your bush fulfill those requirements perfectly.  ;)

Then yes your correct they were rednecks, but the trucker part doesn't quite fit my trucker friend so if you see him be careful and don't call him one will you Chibi :D lol

Whoops, sorry.   ::) The stereotype of a belligerent truck driver doesn't fit all of them, of course.

If they are relatively tasteful: a.k.a. no fiery expressions or suggestive poses. Done well, a nude should be almost chaste.  ;D

I've seen more suggestive depictions on the cover of my mum's fashion magazine. Mart's pictures are good, if a little risqué.  :P  8)

Tasteful is in the mind of the beholder Chibi, some people get all hot under the collar over a woman in a swim suit, or one walking down the road with her arms uncovered :o

Haha that reminds me of Al Yankovic's Amish Paradise. Two Amish boys are shown salivating over the picture of a chubby woman with her skirt hitched up to her knee. (and everything else completely covered).  :)

Yes and Victorian's getting all hot under the collar at the sight of womans ankle  :o lol
