Aquaria 2! When?! The ending was so great, I must see what happens next! The scene with Li Jr. flying off into the sky was just perfect.

Yeah, the story is "to be continued". But that doesn't mean it has to be an Aquaria 2 :p
Heck, it could even be just a mod for the current Aquaria.

You know I'd kind of rather it wasn't Aquaria 2. I think Aquaria style fun is to be had with some of the mods that are being planned and personally rather see the story continued in a different style of game. I'm sure Alec and Derek are up to something else as inventive and as fresh as Aquaria was. Of course, I think they deserve a well earned break first after all their hard work!

If they wanted a break, they could've left out the teasers at the end. Choosing to present things as they did, the longer we have to wait for an extension to the Aquaria story the more likely it will be that Aquaria fan fic and, subsequently, Aquaria slash fic will begin to appear until it's taken over these forums like a horrible deep sea fungus.

Hmm, I'm not sure

THe normal ending was fine enough, you can walk away from that and be fairly happy with it :p

But the bonus ending was a bit of "Ignore the previous ending, behold this cliffhanger!", there's a ridiculous number of uncerntainties and y'know, impatient as I am I don't want to wait to find out what happens :p

Still, there's plenty of interesting questions: What destroyed the island at the start? A Freak meteor storm or something more sinister? Who was the sleeping Merwoman at the end too? (Wasn't Naija, hair and clothes were different), What else did the Creator create that Naija didn't find? What's with Mia's freaky powers (Originally I'd assume she was one of the Priest's, but chances are she knew of the Creator's game all along, knowing full well the Creator would never destroy her...)

But yeah, liked the ending, didn't like the cliffhanger as much.  Not since Beyond Good & Evil have I seen such a sadistic end as that

Who was the sleeping Merwoman at the end too?

I'd go on a limb and say it's the wife of the guy we see flying off in the end.
I mean, if I got the ending right, each of the races of Aquaria was resurrected. Since that guy was most likely Li's son, he grew up with mostly Mithalian chicks (as these are the most humanoid) and thus probably got himself an according wife.

I'll also have the theory that Mia is actually the spirit who kept Eric alive and gave him the powers. She basically needed someone to make a body for her. But once he HAD made a body for her, she somehow needed to get rid of him, and it's hard to get rid of a God who has the very same powers as you.

By "Aquaria 2" I didn't mean "swim around in a different ocean", I meant a sequel (whatever it's name may be) that continues the story of Naija, Li, and their family.
