Aquaria 1.0.3 Cumulative Patch 2007.12.17
« on: December 17, 2007, 04:01:00 pm »
http://bit-blot.com/files/aqpatch_1_0_3.zip

I didn't have the means or desire to do a full run through, so there's a chance I may have broken something. I tried to include everything that might of changed.

One of these days I'm going to join a game development team so I don't have to do everything myself!

Oh wait...

If someone could test out the patch for me that would be great! ;)

To install, navigate to "c:\program files\aquaria\" (or wherever you installed the game to)

Backup your existing "aquaria.exe" by renaming it something (like "b-aquaria.exe")

Extract the contents of the zip file to that directory:

    * aquaria.exe
    * data.001

(note: if you have older patches, this one will replace data.001. that's expected! it has the stuff from the last patch.)

If you run into problems, let us know! Thanks. :)

Changes: (spoilers)

* fixed frame rate dependency w/ Mithalas boss suction attack (might affect other areas of the game)
* fixed mama turtle flying away
* fixed predatory tunicate crash w/ nature form vines (abyss eater enemy)
* got rid of an excessive debug output thing
* fixed **, dual form + plant gate bug
* removed: ** attacking monkeys
* removed: ** attacking sleeping starmie
* fixed predatory tunicate crash with killing enemies / collecting health
* sea turtles are now invincible to biting
* forest walker is invincible
* active menu section in ingame menu is now slightly more opaque than the others
* shark, leopardshark, tigershark are now affected by currents
* added map tokens for mantis, mergog and king jelly bosses
* sun temple gear hint can be replayed
* form abilities are now blocked while on an "active" spot (i.e. glowing cursor)
* blocked entity and node activation in spirit form
* song cave note rocks light up when corresponding note is played

and

* probably some other stuff that i forgot to make a note of

I already have a data.001 from the last patch, should this be a data.002 or does it include the contents of the last patch?

I dunno what a starmie is, but if its the big abyss fish with a lantern over its mouth, someone absolutely still shoots it and wakes it up.

I renamed debug.log to debug.log.old and played for 40 minutes and my new debug.log is twice as big as the old one :)

Why would we call an angler fish a starmie? That'd be pretty stupid.

Is there a particular message that gets repeated? I only removed one repeating message from one part of the game.

They are these starfishes in the Veil regions, that sleep in the background and come at you if you wake them up.

no, I was about to edit and say that on further examination, it was my own fault because this session I loaded from two savegames, and last session I did not.
I mean, there's lots of stuff you're probably aware of:

"ID conflict between mutilus and mutantnaija"
"luaScriptError: mutilus : postInit : attempt to call a nil value"
"cannot open scripts/maps/map_finalboss.lua: No such file or directory
(error loading script: scripts/maps/map_finalboss.lua from file [scripts/maps/map_finalboss.lua])
Could not find script file [scripts/maps/map_finalboss.lua]
"
"transturtle : attempt to call a nil value animationKey"

but none of this seems to affect game play (except maybe the finalboss one, I didn't try to re-fight him this section, but my savegame was right before him)

Yeah, those are just warnings, mainly because some entities don't define callbacks. (which is fine)

map_finalboss just means there isn't a map script defined for the level "finalboss", which is also fine.

I only checked king jelly, but there wasn't a map token. I went to the cave again and still there is no map token. That means that you only get a token if you haven't already defeated the boss, right? So we (hardcore players ;)) can't get these tokens. :(

Yeah, you have to actually beat the boss to get them.

* fixed predatory tunicate crash w/ nature form vines (abyss eater enemy)
good, now maybe I can kill those annoying predatory tunicates with those briar thorns. At least they look more like briar thorns and some people call them cacti.

Which bug is that one? just wondering, but anyways, those tunicates were annoying enough.

Quote
* forest walker is invincible
lol! so I guess they origionally weren't intended to be eaten.

Anyways, maybe you could add documentation of all the major fixes in the download? just wondering, although we don't need to know every single thing, like fixing a few pixels on a sprite for example lol. I mean the really small stuff we don't neccesarily need to know, unless its related to a bugfix, dunno.

I must say I'm impressed by how quick things in the games are getting fixed. It's like oh yeah I got this problem , within 1-2 days it's already fixed.  Normally it takes at least a month for fixes.

Help ! I installed the pacth and lost all my saved games :o(
I checked and my save folder is now empty !

Does anybody know why ? I mean, I have no hope of finding them back, but at least, I don't want this to happen again in the next patch.

By the way, this didn't happen with the previous patch but i also lost all my demo savegames when I isntalled the full game. I'm running vista btw.

Thanks
Xavier
