I put together a mod that changes Naija's appearance in all outfits, using both the default graphics and the nude mod. I also changed Naija's hair to a dark blue color (even child Naija). After making this I realized the Open Source for this game is only for the game itself, and not the content. Does this mean I would be breaking the EULA if I upload the mod for others to use?

Also, some of the sound and music files could be very useful for an RPG Maker game, but again, there's the issue of breaking the EULA. I wish I could purchase an RPG Maker license for Aquaria's resources. I'd gladly pay another $10 (or maybe even more) just to use these in RPG Maker games.

I have also been playing with the idea of using the game's editor, modifying the game's graphics, etc.. to create a Monster High game (focusing on either Lagoona or maybe even Nessi).
I would also love to modify the original campaign/story (as I don't much care for the "gods" storyline) and change some of the bosses, but that's probably not possible.
If it IS possible to do these things.. would the Devs be OK with that? Or would I be violating the EULA?

Nah there's some user-made sprite mods out there (including the nude mod which you already used) and nobody ever complained. That's fair use imho, don't worry about this. Oh and when you're going to publish this, i'd like to put this into my online mod repo so it's easy to access for everyone.

Only Derek + Alec can answer this.

This would be pretty hard to do, but it is poossible. Don't underestimate the work that modding really is. Plus you'd need the open source version to do this reliably (1.1.1 or so might also work but debugging scripts with such an old version is a *nightmare*). The bosses are all scripted so you can change them. The forms are hardcoded.

There's the native mod that allowed accessing the game's files in the editor before the open source version was out. This mod includes the maps (non-GPL) and part of the scripts (GPL), so technically this breaks the license, but practically it's just fine. No complaints either.

Heck even for our WIP sequel mod we're using some of the old maps, more or less modified.

TL;DR: From what i know about Derek + Alec, they like to see things made in Aquaria even today, and you can be pretty sure they'll be fine with what you do. Except for obvious stealing and being an asshole in general.
For using gfx/music in other projects, you need to ask. But i recommend to use other communication channels than this forum, as it's rather hard to get a reply :)

Yeah the scripting/modding might require too much effort. I'm probably better off sticking with what I know (RPG Maker VX).
I'll try to remember to email the devs sometime for permission to use them in free non-commercial projects.

I could always use them but not distribute with the game (forcing people to buy Aquaria if they don't already have said music/sound files). That's never a bad idea, as it would help Aquaria sales.
I'd also want to let Naija make, at the very least, a cameo appearance in said game. :)

Here's a link to the mod I made: http://dc432.4shared.com/download/h5hG99Rrba/DBnaija.zip?tsid=20141201-001416-b9c1c44f&lgfp=2000

It's kinda large because I included all the mods I used to make it. I did not include a way to uninstall and forgot to copy the original files before installing it in my own folder.
I should probably clean up the readme a bit. I had posted it in another forum but later removed it due to worry about the EULA.

This hosting site you chose is super unreasonable for anyone trying to access files and should die in a fire, so i've re-hosted your zip: http://fg.wzff.de/pub/aquaria/mods/DBnaija.zip

Having a look at it - nice. Even though it's another take on a "nude" mod which might be better to keep optional. Ok not nude, but "very-wet-T-shirt" sorta ends up being the same. :P
If you have versions with opaque clothing it would be nice to include those as well, for completeness.

I'll clean it up when i have time and put it into the downloader so it's easy to use for everyone.
Do you have a 256x256 preview PNG for this? (Should not feature nudity if possible, just to be safe). Otherwise i'd need to make something myself, risking that it'll become ugly and you'll hate it.

Thanks for rehosting the file. It's difficult to find a good file hosting website that doesn't periodically delete my account...

It is kindof a "nude" mod. I sorta liked the nude mod, but thought she looked too vulnerable.
Halfway through I kinda reduced her breast size for some forms and outfits.
I made these before finishing the game, so I actually thought the "skimpy" outfit was for a teenage Naija.. which is why I used the pirate outfit. xD
Still, I like it better than the skimpy one and it's ironic that it is now the least revealing of the outfits.

I could possibly do opaque versions or even alter them a bit just so that there's no nudity. I kept most of my work files so that could be easy to do while also keeping the translucent parts on her tummy, legs, etc..
I could also change her beast form to have dark blue hair while I'm at it.
I might even re-install Aquaria just so I can include backup files. I probably need to reinstall anyway, as I need the original dual form file to fix that form up better.
It would be nice to replace her head for that form.. it's quite unnatural and not very Naija-like IMO. I think those two forms would look better as Naija decorated with parts of Li's outfit.

Modified Preview:

I used gaussian blur over all the naughty bits.

Edit: I just tried to email the bit blot admin email, but my email returned as undeliverable. :(
SO I emailed both Alec and Derek's gmail addresses. Hope I hear something positive. :)
