Poor Naija imprisoned to a crystal. I made this with graphite pencil.

I remember clearly when  I first time saw the menu screen of Aquaria, and that beautiful and eerie-like background music. At first I wondered what it meant, but later it was too obvious that her fate was horrible -  colourful crystal, a pleasant sight after a journey, would be her prison in the end.

PS. Archeus, this is not quite what you suggested, but I'll make a closer view soon.

Well, glad you like this, it was a relatively quick work as I felt really motivated!... it took about 2 hours, but usually I pay no attemtion to what time it takes.

I have couple of ideas what I'll draw next, but after I made some skecthes I felt like " I want to see this one finished". I'm not saying this was simple to do, as I'm always a bit concerned how the "underwater" effect will look; it's the problem I have faced many times when drawing Aquaria -inspired works. But it's fun to draw from theme I like, my way to show some respect to this great game, so that's more important than all those technical aspects :)

Heh heh, yeah. You do a great job too. The way the seaweed floats and flows is very underwater-esque. ;)
2 hours huh..  :'( Wish I could do that..

Looking ever forward to more pictures. :D

Nice piece! It really captures the emotion of the moment.

I myself have been trying to get back to drawing things, I haven't done anything yet but I was thinking of doing something in the more general underwater category. (As a result of my vacation in Crimea, it's a very inspiring place.)

Memories. This was a touching moment in the game, seeing some memories from her past in Mithalas.

The "ending" somehow highlighted this event even more I think.

Graphite pencil work. This work has been on my desk for some time, now I managed to finish it.

(edited - I made some chances, as I was told it looked unfinished)

Holy--!! Ghost memories!  :o

The expression on Naijas' (both) faces is truly astonishing...

So spectral... So beautiful...

Those pencil drawings are seriously amazing, though on the first one, the contrast is low enough it took me a moment to figure out what I was looking at...  It might be interesting to see what a photoshop wizard could do in the way of adding color and lighting effects...

Re: the first image, with Naija in the crystal -- it was always my impression that the blue crystals stored the spirit/consciousness of a creature, not the creature itself.  The actual physical Naija went off with Mia to conquer the civilizations beyond the Veil, while her mind and memories were stored in the crystal, which Lucien discovered.
