yeah, it was the times when I tried to buy it too

(somehow managed to not hear about it until maybe a year and a half ago(can't remember if I actually tried to buy it then or only meant to when I next had extra $ on some prepaid card or something but doubt it was down that long so must have been the latter and eventually slipped my mind by the time that came lol)  tried to buy it sometime last year  but it was down.., then I forgot about it until recently in February when I saw it on steam sale and decided it was worth an extra $5 for more of it to go to the devs(and to avoid steam. I'll admit that was part of it, but mostly I just like to feel like I'm paying the producer not a useless middleman) but it was down again/still so decided it must not be being sold direct anymore)), so just got it on steam instead(prefer to buy from developers when available)


if this never works out you could  always get it on steam(at least alex gets a cut from them) and download the unofficial patch(its good to have anyway) to basically get the drm free version(a side effect of making the patch work)

"material version"? What do you mean? In all cases it's only distributed as download, there is no boxed copy or anything. Has never been.

Yep... it's still down. Poked Alec about it a few days ago for the 3rd time or so, but right now everyone is at GDC and has other things in their mind.

That was because Raitosan already owned the steam version -- that update gets rid of steam and allows to play as a non-steam version. If you don't have the game at all, right now the only reliable way is to get it via steam (and patch it up if you like).
That is, until it's available again on Plimus, but i doubt it will be. Might appear in the humble store at some point though (just a rumor, nothing else).

Hm. Perhaps it would be an idea if the main homepage purchase-page directed curious would-be purchasers (like myself) to Steam, in that case - or at least mention it. At the very least, it would clear up a lot of confusion (especially as searching for Aquaria brings up the homepage as the top hit, with the Steam version being buried below a ton of aquariums).

Perhaps Alec should be poked about that instead of getting into a fight with Plimus.

Over the years I have purchased Aquaria through Plimus a few times.  I have searched my hard drives high and low for the downloaded exe, but no joy.

I do not want to purchase the game through Steam or other such site.

But I really want to play the game and Mods!

Any suggestions?

except to say "find the exe you already own" or "buy from steam and patch it" what else could we say?

This game is associated with a lot of great memories for me, so it'd awesome to see it show up at the Humble Store or GOG (and it'd be something I instantly purchase). Alas, my original executable from early 2008 has long since been lost.

I wish I was more into the whole Steam thing but... eh... it's not to my liking. I do, however, somewhat routinely check the Humble Store wiki to see if Aquaria has been added, lol. I hope to see it there at some point, or at the very least in another Humble Bundle, as I missed the ones with this amazing title.
