"Here lies Erulia our mother"
« on: December 10, 2007, 01:13:39 am »
What a GAME! I haven't had this much fun exploring since Tomb Raider or Wonder Boy III(SMS)! And it's the Demo!

Love all the messages everywhere. "Light will guide her", "The fallen", "For Daughter" (Do I get a cookie for figuring this out, or I'm I too late?)

I can't wait for the Mac Version, but for now the demo plays Ok in parallels. Slows down a little in some sections at 1024x768, everything on. (MBP 2.4, 4GB, 256MB)

Only thing I would add to the game is some kind of journal or notepad that keeps all the new things learned along the way. Sometimes you miss an instruction, and there is no way to hear/see it again unless you play all over. I had no idea I could pop the bulbs, because I missed the instruction somehow.

Anyways, keep up the incredible work!

Neat idea, it's a shame no one's replied.

You know, a journal would be nice.  Something to catalogue the stuff she finds and says regarding the atmosphere and objects and whatnot.  You can read her descriptions of all the food and treasures and songs and stuff but you don't get to hear her thoughts on the races or the areas or the tooltips once you hear them once.

This...game...ROCKS!

That is a brilliant idea :D I would like it better though if we could hear her again instead of reading them :D

This is a really neat idea.  I'd love to have a journal type thing, where you can see all the Aquarian rune messages she's found, as well as replay certain dialogues/read them.... I like the idea of being able to read or listen and read (I love the subtitles).  I'd also love to be able to make a sketch book in game for your own notes ;).  I've always had places in the game where I had to scribble down a song in order to remember it (whale song, the song in the Sunken City, etc.)  If I found some kind of stamp markers with the Aquaria music note symbols on them, I'd totally buy like 3 packs and start stamping everything I have with 'em >.>. Well, maybe not everything, but a lot of things.  Yes, I used to be an arts and crafts geek.  I'd totally buy stamps of the symbols for the different songs and form songs... I LOVE Beast form and the symbol for it as well.

This definitely sounds like one of the best ideas to add to the actual game play. I for one thought the game really didn't need anything else as is, and just needs more mod support. But with this idea in mind now, I'm really really liking it. It reminds me of Morrowind how you can add your own markers to the map and add your own notes about the markers for your own reference. In fact you can even just have your own notes without having a marker. I love that possibility, and most certainly would help a lot in this game. Damn whale song!

Not when you stop playing and have other things to do.. Don't forget that I work 24/7. The joys of being in the military fighting for our freedom and making sure all our equipment is up and running. Radars and communications equipment have problems all the time... but usually it's the operators faults since they seem to not always know what they are doing, or forget how to do something properly.

Edit: It would be the same at home too, stopping because I'd always have other things needing to be done. I  have 2 children ages 4 and 2. I'm sure you'd be able to understand silver.

Yes very true, but that is what posit notes are for, draw the symbols and stick it to your screen for next time around lol  :-*

I'm not about to stick sticky notes on my $1000 36" LCD flatscreen monitor. It would be cooler to just have it in game, and easier too. :)

Yesterday I added a new feature to the game for version 1.1.0. Its a help screen that you can view at nearly any time by pressing F1. There's also a help button in the ingame menu, and the world map screen. When you open the help screen, it'll scroll to the part of the help file that's relevant to the part of the interface that you're in. e.g. If you're in the World Map screen it'll bring up the help information on the World Map.

You can also freely scroll through all the available info. The info changes as you progress through the game. e.g. After you learn Energy Form, an Energy Form help section is available. It doesn't give everything away, but it ensures that people understand the basics of the game without them having to leave the game itself.

This should help new players who are confused to get over some common stumbling blocks, without giving too much away or adding more pop-up help.

Thank goodness for the new post warning lol I took it to heart and checked before posting this

:o
Some people still have to use old style monitors...... ::)
But seriously sticking one to the frame wouldn't hurt the delicate screen surely? But still an inbuilt diary would be great, I use a pencil on my mock wood desktop and cleaning it is a bit of a chore after a while  :o lol
