Aquaria doesn't start (Windows XP, ATI)
« on: May 09, 2010, 06:31:28 pm »
Hello there!

I just bought the games on Humble Indie Bundle and wanted to start off with trying Aquaria. Installation worked well, the Launcher works too, but the game itself doesn't launch at all. The ingame mouse cursor blinks very briefly and then the game exits.

Here's the last line of the debug.log:
Code: [Select]
Init Graphics Library...
And these are my system specs:
AMD Phenom X4 9850BE (no OC)
4GB DDR2-1066 in DualChannel
ATi Radeon HD4870GS
Gigabyte GA-790FX-DQ6 Mainboard
Maxtor Atlas 74GB HD (10k rpm) + Adaptec Ultra160 SCSI card
2 x DVD-RW drives
Native Instruments Session I/O USB audio interface (primary sound card)

MS Windows XP x64 (edited with nLite... though the only thing that hasn't worked for the last three years was a new MSN Messenger, which I don't need anyways, since I use Pidgin)
Most current graphics drivers (CCC + Driver 10.3)

I just tested Gish too, which didn't launch either. World of Goo works great and so do many other games (Heroes of Newerth, LotRO, Assassins Creed, etc).

Hope that I gave enough info.
I could add a dxdiag.txt too, if you wish.

Greetings

Aquaria works now, that I changed my graphics card (seems like my HD4870 broke two days ago) with my good old HD4350 I have lying around most of the time. I'm curious though, what would be making problems with a better graphics card of the same series with the same driver though.
