Nothing on the screen.
« on: September 05, 2009, 04:09:32 pm »
Hello all ;)

Just got a Steam version of the game

When I start the game, I can hear the music and all, but I can never see the intro (apart from some fortress-rock thingy occassionally floating about) neither can I see the menus after that.

I know that I've got to menus because I can actually select them albeit blindly. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate 'start' button so I'm not sure if the in-game visual would work.

I've tried updating the graphic driver, rebooting the laptop and all with no avail.

Is there any solution to this at all? Any input would be appreciated really :)

Edit: OK, tried ticking off all the boxes in the start-up window, which fixed the intro problem. However, I still cannot see the menus properly and when I finally found the start button, I can't see much with the gameplay visuals either. I can clearly see 'click left mouse button to move'  instruction, but all I can see in the actual game screen is 7/8th of the character picture on the right hand bottom and that's about it. Other than that, it's all black all over.

Still looking for solution I guess.

Edit2: When I tried to capture the screenshot of the menu, it somehow got Steam which was running just behind it (full-screen). Might have something to do with Steam perhaps?

Here's a successful screen capture with a window mode. I'm supposedly seeing the menus.

Tried reinstalling it?
I'm seeing the Aquaria Version just fine, maybe it's that something got corrupted while downloading and that the level or graphics steam was supposed to download got borked.

Further you said you tried updated your driver, did it work?
And maybe it's wise to tell us what kind of video card you have, maybe it's some card that needs a previous update to work, I'm not sure.
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

Oh well, installing the driver and restarting the computer seems to have done the job. Thanks for your input Alphasoldier btw!
