Received my copy in California. w00t!  :D

I am attempting to put track listings and a hi-res scan of the cover into the CDdb, so folks won't have to hand transcribe the track names.

I also got about halfway through trying to use the comment field to put in the stuff from the liner notes (Alec's comments about the tracks), before I realized the stupid thing was letting me type everything out, and then truncating the moment I moved on to the next track.  Gah!  So, there will be no comments and lyrics in the comment field in the CDdb.  :P

Thanks for that!  8)

Actually if you guys want to post pictures of your "unwrapping" here, that'd make us feel pretty happy. (hours of shipping paying off!)

Oops, too late!  I didn't think to do that, and now the disc is thoroughly transcribed, catalogued (in Delicious Library), and shelved.  I am kind of OCD like that.  8)

I think the tracks did upload properly.  Somebody will have to let us know whether it really worked.  Especially the album cover...  (I could post the image online.  Or I'm sure you have the original file somewhere...)

Am listening to Fear the Dark now.  The opening reminds me slightly of Counting Crows' "Murder of One" -- which sounds random, because it's not at all the same style, but I'm thinking of the way it starts out deceptively quiet / peaceful... and then slams you upside the head. In a good way. ;D

I will try it when my CD gets here, as I like to have a proper FLAC rip with log/cue/SFV files instead of just the music.

And, I support you putting your hi-res version of the image up :) Perhaps a wallpaper could be done out of it

High-res scan, in JPG form.

Though I may not leave it up permanently.  Also, there are a few speckles that are probably bits of dust on the scanner bed; I'd guess Alec has the original image file, which will no doubt be better.

Alec just got the soundtrack in, I'm loving it, bought one of the signed copies.  I would have loved a Huge detailed map of the Aquaria world, but the art included is still great. I bought a signed copy btw.

Just a quick question for you. I loaded both CD's onto my computer. Is there any way to get ID tags for the tracks? I'm using the Zune software with my Zune and its a little bit of a pain to edit all the tracks and whatnot.

Thanks again for a great soundtrack.

Oh man, that would've been radical.

If you use Foobar2000, I can give you a CSV of the tags on mine, and you can insert them that way. And, yes, if that made no sense to you, I can guide you through it :)

:D Mine arrived today, too! I remember people talking about taking pictures once we received them, so I thought I'd start it off. The best picture being the first..:D I don't have a 'real' camera handy, so apologies for the quality :<

Can you explain the "Oh My Word..." black & white insert? I understand the first two lines, mind you, but I don't understand it overall.  It can be seen in one of the images above, and reads:
Quote
A is for Alec who drowned in Aquaria
E is for Edmund who was eaten by Gish
U is for Umbrella, more fun than Malaria
Its hero - A dead boy instead of some fish
WILL IT EVER BE FINISHED?
OH, WE CERTAINLY WISH

Edit: Also, I see in the insert that Jenna was apparently the one who thought of including bits of "Lost to the Waves" in "Fear The Dark". You should point her towards this thread one day so she can see how many people are enjoying it :)

I was so excited, I almost forgot to

Edit: It's interesting comparing the final cover art to how it originally looked a year ago: http://bit-blot.com/images/ost-cover-prev.png (from this thread

Hiya everyone! I took Atreus' advice and decided to post something as opposed to just loitering!

Glad people are getting their soundtracks in time for xmas :)  I just wanted to say how much I loved working on the game and on the vocal tracks.  Alec and I kinda bounced ideas of each other and it was amazing to see how Fear the Dark evolved from a simple one track melody to what it became.  I did help write a couple of bits but I would find composing a whole track way too overwhelming! I think it is because there are too many possible combinations and permutations what with the notes, the intruments, pitch, tempo, volume... just the slightest change to any of those things can make a huge difference to the final track.

It is amazing that Aquaria has so many dedicated fans and I know Derek/Alec (or Darlek as I like to call em) and I have really appreciated the feedback and support from everyone.
That is the great thing about indie games I guess. You are more in touch with the people actually playing the game and I know Alec has genuinely taken on board peoples' suggestions and ideas so in a way it has become like a worldwide community project!!

I have always loved games but I didn't know much about the indie gaming scene until Aquaria and  IGF. I never would have thought it possible that two guys from different countries could have created something like this in their bedrooms without a big developer and loads of money behind them! It just goes to show that 'going back to basics' can be a good thing and flashy 3d graphics and teams of animators and programmers won't enhance a game unless you get all the other elements of gameplay right. Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and to me that is what made Aquaria stand out. It was a good allrounder! And aside from the unique look and feel and attention to detail it also has a kind of nostalgic feel and a  "personal touch" that is perhaps missing from the mainstream games.  You could tell the people working on it (not just Darlek but everyone else who helped with testing etc.) were doing it because they love games and were passionate about what they do. To invest all that time, creativity and effort into something you aren't getting paid for is pretty inspiring and I admire both of the guys for staying motivated because I am sure a lot of people would have given up or lost confidence.

I remember having a few conversations with Alec where I was a bit concerned about him burning out because he was tired and probably not sleeping or eating right because EVERYTHING REVOLVED AROUND THE GAMEEEEE. At times he lost the ability to be impartial about his work because when you do something creative and put your heart and soul into it it becomes difficult to step back and gauge whether it is actually any good or not! Believe me, when we were sitting at our table at IGF none of us thought liek OMG Aquaria is so gonna win cos its the best game eveeerr. In fact as I watched all the other awards going to other games (especially excellence in audio which I thought Aquaria would get) I was like... aww &%$£ we are going home with nothing. I know people alway say how surprised they are when they win stuff but we genuinly were not expecting it because there were some good games that year.

Well I have rambled for long enough   ::) so thank you once again for your continued support and lovely comments.

Love Jenna

Cool! I never expected my suggestion to go anywhere, much less so soon. That was a great read :) Here's hoping that Alec's idea of a whole CD done with you (separate from Aquaria) comes to fruition someday, as "Fear The Dark" and "Lost to the Waves" are two of my favorite songs (not just from the game, but globally).

Edit: nm, better suited for a PM
