Need help with cutscenes
« on: May 02, 2009, 08:33:34 am »
I realized while reading the Aquaria maps that Momruoy made that I'm just not getting the cutscenes. Sometimes I get something, as when I defeated Mithalas (a black screen with the voices) but I didn't get a memory or cutscene at the cooking slot in Mithalas city; no inferno cutscene when crossing the veil, nothing when Mia is supposed to appear (she appeared for a second and everything stopped and then she disappeared). Also no Mia after getting nature form as you come up on the transport turtle in the kelp forest (again, a bluish haze and time stopping, then restarting). What's up with that? Could it be my McAfee virus program being overactive? Could it be because I did everything backwards and got nature form before beast, and took a ride with Ekkrit up to the veil the first time before I had beast form? I feel as if I am missing out. Any support gratefully accepted.

The cutscenes should appear no matter what order you play the game (if you have version 1.0.3 or later). It's definitely a glitch - PM or email Alec later if he doesn't see this thread.

[EDIT]: "Later" meaning Tuesday.  :)

Thanks, Chibi, I thought so too. I PM'd Alec a few days ago but I'm sure he's busy. If he could just e-mail me the cutscene files I would settle for that; don't know if this is a fixable bug. I just know enough to be dangerous  but not really helpful. Fingers crossed.

He's been in Phoenix since the 22nd and gets home Tuesday night. I'll be sure to bother him about it for you then :)

I don't mean to be digging up dead threads but this exactly describes the problems I'm having too.

I've triggered at least two appearances of the shadowy figure that you see right at the beginning of the game but instead of dialogue it just disappears after a second or two. One instance was in the Kelp Forest and another was in or around the Sun Temple, possibly the Veil. I too am now wondering what else I've missed.

I've found this rather sparse wiki on Aquaria detailing hidden scenes but nothing saying what you can expect to find during the normal course of play. http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Aquaria/Hidden_Memories

If someone could fill me in on what I've missed, or tell me how to view the scenes again (I've searched youtube but drawn a blank), that would be great. So far I've been to the starting dungeon, the place that looks like an old castle, the kelp forest and mother nature, the veil and the Sun Temple. I've seen the shadowy figure three times but only had dialogue once, right at the start. Other than that I've not seen or heard anything other than when I find a hidden object, Naija makes one of her comments when exploring a new area or I kill a boss.

I'd really like to know what I'm missing!

I'm running whatever the latest version is on Steam if that helps.

TIA.

EDIT

I've stumbled across a video playthrough of Aquaria. In this video, at the 7 min mark, the exact same appearance of the shadowy figure occurs without dialogue so perhaps this is normal (or a common problem?). Interestingly I don't remember seeing her here but I could be mistaken.

You're not missing anything -- the second and later "shadowy figure" cutscenes don't have dialogue.

Ok, thanks for clarifying that for me.

I'm curious about when Sindhi says "a memory or cutscene at the cooking slot in Mithalas city; no inferno cutscene when crossing the veil". I've been to both of those places now and I'm not sure I've seen what she's referring to.

There's a short cutscene without dialogue inside the building with the cooking icon in Mithalas; the "inferno" scene is a bit of dialogue from Naija (comparing the bright waters above to a "blazing inferno") when you first approach the upper-right exit from the Open Waters area next to Mithalas.

Hmmm, ok, thanks. I've been to both areas now and I don't remember those events, I'll have to check it out on a second play through.

Cheers achurch!
