map legend
« on: January 14, 2009, 09:01:56 pm »
I searched the forum and read the FAQ, but still - I may be asking a question, asked a hundred times before, so please excuse me if I do, but... is there a map legend in the game or somewhere on the site? For example, the game keeps marking these blueish berry thingies on the map, and I'd like to know what they are or what I may use them for (I'm not that far into the game - actually, just entered the open waters). But there seems to be no explanation.

Well, it's something you will find out about later in the game and nothing you can use at this moment, so I'd say wait and get a surprise then. :)

If you still want to know ask, and we'll tell you. :)

There is no legend because it'd be too spoilerish.

Oh... Okay, I'll just carry on and be patient then. :) Thanks for explaining things a bit - I tend to get nervous, when there are elements, present in the game from the start, but not explained until later on. It's like I'm missing something, except I'm not. :)

If you see something new, just think "Oo, shiny!" and make a mental note to come back to it.  :) Also, explore everywhere possible unless the difficulty becomes extremely hard (or you can't see).

I don't think a map legend would necessarily be spoileriffic, if it was a "hover-over-marker" sort of legend rather than a list of every object you might find on the maps. The big blue buds could for example be noted as "Big blue bud", even before you get to the point in the game where they become interesting.

Well, if this "big blue bud" is named "big blue bud" it helps me as much as only having the symbol we have now. ;)

Well, at least you'd know what was being marked...

You can use the yellow and purple pyramids on the lower right corner of the map to make your own markers with notes.  Just click one or the other pyramid, type your note, and drag it to wherever you like on the map to mark the location of rare food items, things to come back to, or good fishing grounds.

(Edit: missed the fact that this was a few days old, but the information is still handy.)
