No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get the Explorer achievement. I suppose you only have to visist the areas, and not explore them 100% (make everything white instead of grey)? I've checked with this map, and I've visited every area there, as well as the developer fish area. What could I have missed? Also, do the final boss areas count (as well as the meet-your-evil-mother-area?)

You're correct in that you only have to visit the area and not get 100% (because that would be a bit ridiculous for stuff like The Veil). I got it after visiting the developer fish room (I had already gotten the full ending as well, but I don't know if it counts that since you can't save after doing this).

If you don't have everything, I suggest getting whatever you're missing, such as treasures or the third cooking slot from the simon says boss.

However, you said you'd checked the treasure hunter map, which means you may very well have everything. If that's the case, it may be an achievement bug that needs to be worked out.

Try asking for help in the suport section because this sounds like bug and not something we average players can help you with, sorry :(

Okay, thanks. =) One more thing - do you have to visit all areas within the same savegame, or can you visit the area you missed when starting a new savegame?

I think you have to visit all the areas within the same series of saves - it would be too hard to implement the latter.

I think that this is another Steam achievement chibi and that means that what we know of the game isn't always relevant :( We know our way around it but do we know what needs to be done to get what they need for steam?

I know it's a Steam achievement - my post is still relevant. It's almost speculation, anyway.  ;)

Apparently you haven't or you'd have this achievement too, not? ;) j/k but are you sure you visited every part of the game? How would you know that you missed one?

Sorry, my mistake - I did of course mean everything else. :) I'm of course not sure I've visited every part of the game, or else I wouldn't have asked. I'm sure I've visited everything in the map I linked to. I might of course have missed a small unmapped area, like the developer fish area (I've been there, though), so if anyone knows any of those easy-to-miss-areas, please say it. :)

Thanks. Should you have the Explorer achievement if you've visited all of the areas in that map?

Does anyone know whether the final boss area (the fourth God form) and the Evil Mother ending map count toward this achievement?

My apologies for resurrecting a dead thread, but this is the top result on Google for this problem and I wanted to share how I fixed my missing Explorer achievement issue.

Check these first: (list taken from Shizumi's post on Steam's discussion)

  • Collected all treasure items.
  • Collected 4 pets.
  • Learned 10 songs (shown in menu).
  • Found 3 lost memories.
  • Collected 5 Verse Eggs.
  • Unlocked the 3rd cooking slot.
  • Found the two Weird Fish.
  • Entered the final area (completion isn't necessary).

If those don't work, my personal missing area was a save point I missed in the Energy Temple. Link to map (Imgur). Apparently Tabarnaco had the same missing area, ha ha;;;

And if none of those work, I've uploaded a 100% completion Steam save. This has all treasures, all achievements. Maybe that will work as a last-ditch effort for anyone else having the same issue. The Windows 7 save file location should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Aquaria\save
