Finished the Energy Temple - now I'm just sort of lost.
« on: December 21, 2008, 11:04:41 pm »
Hi, friends

I love this game, but right now I feel like I've just been wandering around without a clue as to where to go. I beat the Energy Temple and received my energy form - but now I've just been wandering around for the past few hours and getting kind of frustrated/bored. So after the energy temple I traveled eastward into Open Waters. To the north I have the Kelp Forest, further east is the Mithandral palace, and to the south is the Abyss. All of these areas are filled with areas and tunnels which I can't seem to access, so I'm starting to really feel like I'm missed something. There are currets, heat plumes, darkness, cracks, etc. that's always stopping me from going forward. As of now I assume I don't have the abilities to bypass these obstacles.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I should go after the Energy temple?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!  :) Now down to business.

As another member of the forum stated, the best thing to do is to explore the Open Waters clockwise, entering all maps as they become available in that process. Once in the Kelp Forest, you need to travel all the way up and left, exploring everywhere along the process. At the top of the northwestern most map is a boss which will give you an invaluable form (a very natural one). You will come to notice that Aquaria really encourages thorough exploration. I won't give you any more hints, because getting lost and finding small Easter eggs is all part of the experience.

Hope that helps.  :)

Thank you, that should help. I'll head back to the Kelp Forest and keep going deeper in. I do like exploration, but as I was saying I'm reaching the point now where I just feel completely lost.

Good! Then you're on the right track.  :P  :) Whatever you do, don't venture into the extremely dark areas to the south unless you want a challenge.

When you get lost just click on the minimap in the bottom right hand corner and watch for those currents. The first time I played I managed to pass then in the top left and couldn't get out so I had to go back one save :( This was needed because I couldn't yet beat the boss up there :(

What do you mean by the currents Were you trapped by the currents? Do they make a trapdoor of some sort? I've never run into it, although I'll keep my eyes peeled on the second run. Knowing Alec, he's probably fixed it.

Chibi you know what the currents are surely or have a spelt it wrongly? Nop I have just checked and I have spelt it correctly so why are you asking what currents are and what have currents to do with trapdoors?

I was just wondering why you had to go back one save because of the currents - the way you phrased it, it sounded as if the currents were stopping you from continuing. Sorry to have annoyed you.

[EDIT] Edited my first post to make it less suggestive (not in the naughty sense)  ;).

Hehe, I wandered into this area immediately after the Energy temple. Even managed to find the jellyfish boss down there with no light. Died rather horribly of course.

It wasn't sugestive in a naughty sense Chibi, your question just puzzled me as I couldn't understand why you didn't know about the currents. :D

Ok just think about the area of the kelp forest with all those spiky unkillable things that you need to move out of your way and imagine that you have got in there without Beast form ok?
Now you take on the boss upstairs only she keeps killing you, so after 3 or 4 goes you decide to get beast form but then find that every turn there is a current that you can't swim against. So unless you defeat her you are stuck  :D

Okay, I understand now - I defeated Mithala before tackling Mother Nature on my second run, so it just didn't register.

Theres something Fishy about the map with the spiders in the Kelp Forest that I think you should investigate before going to Mithalis, on that note, why would they leave their doors open, people and fishes could just come in and take their Valuebles. And whats that on the walls, you should get to the core, or should i say Cores of this Rotten mystery. What you find there might help you sink your teeth into this current mystery. Then, naturally, id go back to the canopy of the Kelp Forset. You get the idea, like one of those light bulbs that flash above people heads in those cartoons. All your friends will be green with envy once you get whats up there.

No! I would never put subliminal messages in a post! Thats just mean!
